GoDaddy is the best, been using it for over 12 years now. PM me if you have any other questions. I host both my website and the many websites I have designed for clients with them too.
My Signature is empty. My signature space is not for sale. You may not contact me to advertise your RFD-related activities here. I repeat, this signature-space is not for sale, unless it is a ......day

No, Location does not matter ... I'm thinking to select one of these : inmotion hosting (90 day trial)/ webhosting hub (45days)/ ehost ..(45 days)

How easy is it to move from one provider to other ?
Also I heard its better to buy domain from namecheap (3rd party domain registrar) and host it web hosting companies which are meant for hosting .. is that true ?

If location don't matter then look for a US host as prices are always cheaper. Not much of a deal in the Canada.

If your hosts have cpanel, then it's relatively easy. The host just need to restore the backup file you have generated from your current host.

It's better because the host can't hold your domain for hostage if any issue arise on your hosting side.

I've used Namecheap for hosting in the past and been happy. I switched to Fullhost because they bill in Canadian dollars. I used to use Fullhost's VPS services at a former job (my former employer still does) and I find their shared hosting similarly excellent.

If cost is a concern, you might find cheaper domains at places other than Namecheap. I believe Name.com is cheaper than Namecheap and GoDaddy.

Godaddy is the worst. For the love of god, don't use Godaddy.

Hosting with a Canadian company will remove any issues with currency fluctuation. Also might help with local SEO (if this is relevant to you) if your site is hosted on a Canadian IP.

Not many options with Canadian Dollar. Signup for Hawkhost. They are running 75% special now. Plans start from .75$/month if you go for 2 years plan

Other option is stablehost.com They are also running their 75% .

I currently have a website with godaddy. I admit i rarely update the site, I initially thought I would sell product online but it became too much for me to figure out as I could not factor in shipping.

My website is expiring, godaddy sent an email for renewal at $160+ per a year thats domain and hosting. I've logged into my hosting a total of 3 times in the past year. The site I hope, is directing people from my city to the retail location. I've used a total of 700mb of the unlimited gb i have of storage at godaddy.

Things I don't understand: I don't know how much bandwidth I need. SSL is important? Why would one need multiple sql databases or ftp accounts? I have one email address.

For basic hosting, what would you recommend? (I want to keep the option that I will hopefully sell product online even though I haven't in the past 5 years)
https://www.hawkhost.com is doing $2.24 a month on a 2 year contract
https://www.name.com/
https://www.stablehost.com/
https://www.alphadoghosting.com/
https://www.greengeeks.com
https://www.fullhost.com/web
http://directhosting.ca/

From what I read I could care less if my website is down for an hour or not. I just want a website where I can get an occasional sale here and there and bring traffic to retail store.
