Best Western Credit Card with 50000 points (worth over $200 gift card)

Got this in the email from Best Western today:

Take advantage of our richest offer ever! Sign up for the Best Western Rewards® MasterCard credit card and:
Receive 20,000 bonus points†† after your first qualifying purchase
Spend $1,000 before October 31, 2012 on your new card and receive an additional 30,000 bonus points†††
Earn even more points‡ by making everyday purchases -- at gas stations, grocery stores, theatres, restaurants, and whenever you stay at Best Western
With 50,000 points, you can get up to 3 free nights* at Best Western or up to $200 in gift cards.
Don't miss out -- this offer expires on October 31, 2012.

When I click on the link in the email it takes me to this site: https://www.applyonlinenow.com/CACCapp/ ... MC-_-Links
And it also offers: 1.99% promotional annual interest rate† (AIR) on balance transfers*, access cheques and deposits* for the first 6 full months

Also, for folks interested in the GCR route, they recently offered something even better: Announcement
* $20 referral bonus per credit card if any of your referrals are approved for any MBNA credit card listed at GCR and is reported to us in September. $15 referral bonus if reported to us in October.

This is on top of the $60 regular cashback

Would be great if we can get the 50000 points, 1.99% on BT and the $60 (or more) rebate. Would like to hear your experiences on this one.

just checked GCR - looks like you get 50K points, and not the 20k mentioned above

Bestwestern reward nights start from 8000 points/night, 4000 pts more for next level up to 36000pts/night if I remember it right.

Just as an FYI, the Best Western Elite is practically useless. I've had ZERO acknowledgement or difference in any stay I've ever done with them. You get 250 bonus points per trip, and their support is fairly good, but it's still nothing like a regular elite program.

OP says $200 worth of GC's...

If anyone would like to know how to get an additional $60 cash back via GCR for applying for this card on top of the (up to) 50K points, shoot me a PM.

This card does not waive the 2.5% foreign transaction ripoff charge and is a deal breaker for me.
For those of you keeping score at home, thus far Sears Mastercard and Amazon.ca Visa don't charge that stupid fee.

Yeah, but you gotta stay at a Best Western in order to use the points, and that makes this deal ice cold.

For the minimum income it says $35,000 (not applicable to students). Does that mean the card is N/A for students or just the minimum income is N/A for students?
