Best/Worst Courier when Importing to Canada

^^ depends on the size and value claimed on the shipping containment itself... Got a coffee machine, valued at 500$ [& a big box] which was the cost, travelled half of the US to get to me, charge was 35$ and change at the door. USPS

I ship A LOT of big stuff to the US & canada [mostly us; car parts].I've used them all.

There are ways from US -> canada to avoid it, like rockauto.com, they charge the GST on it, so guy drops it off at your doorstep [just ordered 150$ last week and received it]

Canada -> usa is jokes, no customs/nothing. Awesome how we get shafted on almost everything since most vendors/ebayers are too lazy to fill out one extra form - but then again its our own fault for not wanting to pay a few bucks more initially then save big time at the door... oh well!

It's a pair of denim but that denim Is Made In Canada; Specifically Montreal.
We will see how It goes but I don't want to reject the package when It arrives assuming there are customs/duties fees!

Atleast you'll be off the hook for any duties since it is a Canadian made product.

Yeah If anything I get hit by 13% tax which Is under $20.. Although I'm still hoping for no extra fees!

It sucks that the store stopped marking their products low value.

UPS is the absolute worse on this planet. I would avoid and pass on a 95% off deal if the only shipping method was UPS.

All: I think you need to put this into perspective. How many of you actually know anything about customs rules and regulations. Customs brokers whether couriers or just a broker view the. Paperwork that accompanies the goods and make an assessment on that. If your goods were made in Canada you must provide proof they left in order to have no duty or tax assessed. UPs and FEDEX raised the cost of their clearances for non commercial freight so they wouldn't have to deal with individual people. DHL charges are consistent with UPS and FEDEX although freight is more. http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-com.../menu-eng.html is the website for duty rates. If it new empty luggage you will find it in chapter 42. If purchased while you were overseas you should have to self clear and then won't have to pay any duty or tax

You wont get any. I am 90% sure.

USPS is 1 out of 20 for fees (100-200$ value) from my own personal experience.

Just last 2 weeks ordered 2 seperate orders of 120-150$ shipped with USPS and no fees as usual.

You get left a card or It goes to your mailbox. Sometimes CP employees leave the package AT your door.

DHL is garbage. Got dinged $7.25 with COD fees to give to Canada Post, for a $66 Karmaloop order. Duties + taxes came up to $7 which is fair, but the COD fees are BS.

USPS is the US Postal Service. Like the Canada Post of the US. So if an item ships with USPS, it's handed over to Canada Post at the border, and Canada Post completes the delivery. You are not guaranteed to get out of paying taxes/duties, but if you do then the overall charges will be much less than with UPS, because they don't charge crazy brokerage charges on top of the duties.

I'm with idiot. USPS = great, UPS = horrible....simply won't use them. FedEx is an acceptable choice as well, but USPS is my first pick.

+1 Never had a problem with USPS, but 'always' problems with UPS
