Agreed. Bought this for 250 back in May after returning a 25" variant. Found 25" too small. 29" was perfect for my (gaming) needs.

I got the older version of this monitor, the one without the Freesync... Can anyone talk me out of this?

Cheaper by $10 after PAYPAL2018 - $25 code + Freeshipping.

Maybe not worth the savings for easier returns to BB store compared to shipping back to NE.

Did anyone switch from dual monitor to one of these?
I have two 24 inches 1080p monitor side by side, but this 29" looks more compelling, so I wonder if the experience is better.
Is the aspect ratio good for a 29"?

Would it be silly to use this or any monitor for that matter with an Xbox or ps4?

$236.77 all-in for QC (no GST). Is there any chance I'll be disappointed and want to return?

Edit: 3% ebates … looks like I'm going to cave

Depends on a few things...

#1 Do you need sound? No built-in speakers but there is headphone out and xbox/PS4 also has optical or BT options.
#2 Do you need 4k? PS4 Pro and One X supports upto 4k although most games are actually upscaled to 4k instead of actually being 4k. Still you will notice a difference vs 1080.
#3 Do you care about a strange image ratio? PS4/xbox One does not support ultra wide, so its 16:9. This is likely the biggest issue (and thus last one). I believe this monitor will wide zoom the image to 16:9 for you but the ratio is still going to be very strange. It might be a good idea to google this up to confirm but most ultrawide monitors generally do have some sort of "widezoom" or "display as 16:9" options.

Personally i wouldn't recommend it. You're better off with a full HD monitor if you want to go the monitor route. Might also be a good idea to consider a 1440p alternative since Asus 1440p goes on sale for ~$300 every so often as well. Likely soon too since its "Back to School" season and we often sales for monitors, laptops, tablets, etc.

Its ultrawide meaning the concept is basically like having 2 smaller 1080p monitors side by side so it should be similar to your experience except with two key difference. A 29" ultrawide is roughly 1.5x the width (similar height) as a 24" full hd monitor so if you are switching 1 for 2, you actually will end up with less space to work with (and of course lower resolution). The other key is you lose the frame in the middle dividing the two monitors and that could be a pain for older monitors tho most newer ones generally have very small bezel/frames that its not a huge issue.
