Which is Better LG CHOCOLATE Flip vs Samsung U510
Hi Guys
I really need some help...
I've finally decided after 7 years with Bell, that I'm going to change companies and go to Telus (please tell me this is a good move)
Anyways, I've narrowed down my search to 2 phones.
The Samsung U510 and the Chocolate LG Phone Flip Edition
I'm not sure which one is better? Compatibility, Portability? Can I transfer music from computer to phone with these phones? The big thing for me is getting a chance to put music or ringtones on my phone WITHOUT paying a fee from the actual company (something that Bell did)
I'm a noob, so I'm not sure...lol
Any information is good information....even if its about Telus and Bell itself....
Here's the plan that Telus is offering right now...
200 minutes
Free weekends and Weeknights 6pm - 8 am
Free Call waiting, Voicemail, Call Display
17.30/Month
6.95 System access fee
0.75 911 emergency calling
Total comes to with taxes 28.90
My Current PLan with Bell is
100 Minutes
Free Weekends and Weeknights 6pm-8pm
Call Waiting, Voicemail , Call Display for an additional $5
for a total of 35 dollars/month
System access fee 8.95
911 Calling 0.75
Total $51.41 /month
Called Bell to tell them that I wanted to cancel and they offered me 6 months free unlimited calling but I would have to go on a 2 year contract.
Broke down the numbers
24 months with Telus
28.90 x24 = 693.60 for my term
18 months with Bell
51.41 x 18 = 925.38
What do you guys think? Please post stories about Telus and Bell if you can from personal experience
Thanks so much!

Hey Guys
Just an update on this situation....
Just talked with Bell
and they gave me another offer
200 minutes
20 calls to 1 caller unlimited
Unlimted Weeknights starting at 6pm - 8am
Unlimited Weekends
Call display, Voicemail, Call waiting, Conference calling, Call Forwarding
Stock Accessories for any phone I buy. Car Charger, Headset, Case for phone
2 Ring tones downloaded
$250 Credit to any phone
3 Months Unlimited Calling
Only downfall is that I'm on a 3 year Contract (however, I can change plans anytime I want, and they will help out with buying a new phone if the one I have gets destroyed somehow)
By the way...For the comments about Rogers and GSM capability....Bell offers a GSM Blackberry.
Whats good about Rogers? Please give me some information and not banter!
Thanks again!

Look I work in the Telus Service Center and you don't even want to know how many (LG K8000 about 8-11 % of the phones daily) come in every day... I would avoid Telus .. they gave us all cell phones free use .. but employees 8 out 10 people just use it for the walkie talky part for work and are on Rogers....
Avoid Telus man I warned you and if you do go with Telus Play that your phone does not break down because we will send you **** back and charge you 125 bucks just to remove a sticker from your phone and put it on another cell and transfer the data.
And if you do go with the LG pick white cause they seem to be better built.
Rogers treats you better than Telus.. Telus is like Stalin you are stuck with them for 3 years and have to take their ****.

well I am on a Retention plan and pay 23 $ with tax for 250 mins + 100 Long Distance Can/US but if you check the Hot Deals and look at the Retention plans they offer and try to call the number and say you want this plan and you will switch they may give it to you.. worked for some people ... But you are a new client so you got to test the different CSR but I would never go with a cell phone company that is not Rogers.

Is this plan with Rogers that you are talking about?
How is it?
Thanks

I don't necessarily agree with all the pro-Rogers and anti-Telus that's going on here.
Firstly, the primary reason why people choose Rogers is for its GSM network - the fact that there are SIM cards and that they can swap phones easily.
That's pretty much it.
With the EPP 17.30, Telus has an amazing offer right now (compared to Rogers' regular plans - not retention). It's up to you, but I'd go with Telus. I've had good experiences with the CDMA carriers here - where as Rogers has managed to botch everything that I've ever had with them. Maybe it's just me, but I've found the network quality of Bell/Telus here to be better than Rogers - voice calls sound better, and I like the EVDO high speed data.

I was with telus for 4 years, dropped calls were common, delayed text messages and dead air ring calling. I was on the PCS and IDen, went to Fido, then Rogers, I am not looking back Rogers service is solid! enough said.. oh and I only pay 23 dollars including tax for 250 daytime minutes unlimited evenings at 6 pm unlimited weekends, caller id, voice mail and 125 text messages. Oh and if you sign a 3 year contract with Rogers you pay 200 dollars and your out, with telus unless they changed it, if you are on a 3 year you pay 20 a month remaining no max...

I have no problem with Rogers service except that free Sony 1GB M2. I have been calling Rogers N times and talked to X CSRs/managers within 5 months, usually people receive that within a month. However they sent me 2 by mistake or apology. I wished they sent me Sony 1GB M2 and 4GB MS Duo instead.

Check whether you qualify for any corp plans under Rogers. They seem to have a plan for almost every company. If you have a significant other, also check to see if they qualify for any corp plans. I recently went through this and activated two Rogers lines for my wife and I. My wife works for the municipal gov't so I got both activated under her corp plan. Apparently school board employees have a pretty good plan out there. Porting a number is super easy too. I moved our numbers from Fido and Bell to Rogers.
I find that wireless dealers (e.g. Wireless Wave, TBooth, The Source) often offer better incentives than the corp stores (e.g Bell World, Rogers) for new activations. Check out Costco too. They sometimes have a dealer operating a cellphone booth and give Costco members some extra discounts. Just watch out that some dealers will try to push a certain carrier as they probably get a bigger commission/bonus at that particular time. For example, one dealer said that there were no corp plans available to me on Rogers and was trying to push Bell onto me. I ended up signing up at Wireless Wave and ended up saving $150 more than if I had gone to a Rogers store.
