Beware of Staples/Bureau en gros mail-in rebate trap!!
I bought a Symantec Internet Security last October 2008 from Bureau en Gros with a $35 mail-in rebate. I send it the next day. I received the confirmation on Oct 30, 2008 that they have received my claim and in process and gave me the confirmation number for tracking. Now February 13, the rebate never arrived!
I have send them email numerous time for the past 2 months, they never response. I tried to call time with the 1-866 number, the recording said I should ask the company their "NEW" customer service number because the number I dialled is no longer available.
I got hold of the number for Staples/Bureau en Gros, I was told the rebate centre no longer existed because of financial trouble (they out-source it). I should be given store credit but will takes a "LONGGG" time for time to do it. And nothing they can do. I should just "WAIT".
And the store has no idea of what happens because I went to ths store to ask for the rebate, they still told me it will arrive in 4 - 6 weeks. There is still "NEW" Symantec Internet Security 2009" mail-in rebate on their box ($40 this time).
BEWARE! BEWARE!

No sh*t, ooold news.
Here, I did a search of this forum for "staples rebate". 4 of the first 7 results address this issue (besides this thread).

This has been covered so much on here but its not the retailers fault. The company that deals with the rebates went bankrupt. Contact Staples and they will tell you what to do and before you start yelling at them they have a system set up to help with this issue.

I say BS. You bought the product from staples and they have the obligation to fulfill the rebate.

I don't think I said anywhere that the rebate would not be dealt with. All I said is that it is not Staples fault that a different company went bankrupt. And just so you know it was not only Staples that was affected by this issue. There were a few other large retailers that were affected by this as well.
