Big 4 Vs. Mid-Tier Accounting Firms In Canada

Hello again,
I’ve noticed here that many of you are either in the accounting/ consulting field or are associated with it in a certain way. I am in the process of getting interviews from either small and mid-tier accounting firms...”I believe”. My next step is to go from a small firm to either a mid-tier or the Big 4. I don’t know if the Big 4 hire under 30 uni graduates from lesser known universities but have several years of public accounting experience under one’s belt.

To my understanding, the Big 4 firms in accounting is PWC, Deloitte, KPMG and Ernst and Young. However, I found the term Big 5 or Big 10 used before in Canadian forums. What firms are classified on the Top past the Big 4 firms?

Ones I can think of: MNP, Grant Thornton and BDO unless I am missing some....

Which firms are classified as mid-tier firms in Canada and what is the definition of mid-tier firms? Is it determined by size? Being national or international?
