When was the last time you tried? Most of them (Grandvilla, Edgewater, etc) stopped giving out $5 the past few yrs. I can't remember for sure about River Rock.

I haven't actually tried yet, was planning to next week for my birthday. I'll update the info then. But the form is still there on their web site so I'm going by that ...

The only ones I used this year were the SDM optimum points, and the freebie from Giant Tiger (from being on mailing list) - got the bag of chocolate almonds (actually very good), other choices were chocolate raisins, can of coffee, frozen pizza.

Any others I got emails about - Arby's, Orange Julius - were BOGO, so I didn't bother.

Ok, I had my birthday freebie extravaganza yesterday and am happy to report that River Rock definitely gives the $5 free slots. I actually got $15 -- $10 for signing up for the Players' Club in the first place, $5 for it being my birthday. (And mardi gras beads to wear -- I thought that might get me free drinks but it didn't. LOL!)

I got the impression that the membership card was good at other casinos too but I haven't read the fine print.

ITA with this. I did that yesterday at Four Winds brewery in Delta and they gave me my beer flight for free (value $6).

Obviously it only makes sense to do at establishments you like anyway, and where you don't mind paying if they don't give you a deal.

re: the Booster Juice free smoothie, it's good for 7 days after your birthday, so that's good. But it's only good for the location you select.

Another one not listed: E-Exit Escape Rooms, free game on your birthday. No registration needed, just show ID. (However reservations are recommended.)

This is one of the best values, as their games cost between $23 and $29. And great marketing because they now have a new customer in me, it was a ton of fun and I'll be back for sure.

And if you have multiple locations where you live, you can get a free game at each one. Currently several locations in the greater Vancouver area, plus Edmonton & Calgary.

Now that this thread has replaced the previous version as a sticky, let's see if we can add to/update/rebuild it. I'll try and post some later tonight.

For coffee lovers in Ottawa, Bridgehead will give you a free drink on your birthday. You have to be a rewards member but it doesn't cost anything to sign up and you don't need to keep a balance on your card to pay for drink (like Starbucks does). The free drink is also good for a month (unlike Starbucks which is only good for 2 days).

Must have ended recently because now it says:

Please note that we have discontinued the 'Birthday Treat' but will be launching something in its replacement in the near future as well as other great rewards dedicated to rewarding our loyal customers. As noted above, our "What's New" page will give you further updates on where we are in our transition.
