Got my hands on two 1080 ti today. Gonna set them up with an old PC for now. Still debating on whether or not I want to do a full 6 card rig.

Good stuff.
I took half the day off work and still empty handed.
I have 3 on order, with one looking as a possibly for next week and the other two...God knows when.

The place you bought from have anymore?
If they sell online, I would try.

It's too bad you guys weren't thinking about mining during Boxing Week. During the 10X Ebay Bucks event, the Newegg Canada store had dozens of 1080 Ti models and dozens of 1070 Ti models available at normal prices. I picked several of each and they were shipped out right away.

It's surprising how quickly that supply dried up. At this point, it might be worthwhile to look at AMD Vega. With the right coins, earnings are comparable to the 1080 Ti.

The place I bought from sold out. I bought the last two cards and it was local in-store pickup. Every store I checked will not ship online anymore. I know memex is sitting on 10 cards but it's all in Alberta.

I see another local shop and they only do in store pick up too but they said they may have 6 from supplier. I have to etransfer them a deposit of $700 and pay rest cash in store. So it's a bit sketchy but that's probably where I'm gonna get the rest of the cards then pick up the mining kit at Mike's after if I decide to do a full rig which I'm actually wanting to do. I'm justifying it by saying it's a hobby haha.

I would check your local stores. The small local PC stores. Thy could be sitting on stock that was purchased before the craze and they may not even know about mining

EDIT: DAMN. The other store I was talking about just sold all 6 of their cards. And they were selling $1000+ tax too. So bummed out. I couldn't call them in time as I got work. They going to keep my info when they have more but I doubt it.

It didn't even cross my mind during BD, as I was occupied with HA purchases.
Now I have a good chunk of disposable income and wanted to give it a go; instead of dumping it all into my investments.

Don't discard humble cards like 1050 Ti. Everyone is after larger cards which makes them OOS in some places and crazily expensive in others, wheres two 1050 Ti's can give almost as much profit as one 1070, for a significantly lower cost, and better stocks. I just ordered two 1050 Ti's from staples.ca; using a 15$ coupon I got them for 385$+tax, free shipping. A 1070 would cost >630$, and still OOS in most places. Two 1050 Ti's would pay 5.65$ US per day, resulting in ROI=61 days - much shorter than 90+days for high end cards.

That particular 1050 card is now OOS on staples, but they still have 210$ ZOTACs, and you can use coupons. (I made a mistake - I should have made two separate orders for 2 cards, so I could use two coupons I had).

All the numbers in this thread is now off, BTC has moved a bit Face With Tears Of Joy. I think implementing using BTC (or mBTC) would be better.

When OP made this thread,

1 BTC = $ 16,838.21

Right now

1 BTC = $ 13,436.62

I may go your route, as I'm likely only able to get my hands on 1 1080ti ($1300).
Can I mix 1050ti, 1070ti and 1080ti; as I'm going for a full 6 rig build?

I think you can, but I never tried that myself.

Mixing Nvidia cards shouldn't be any problem at all. I even have a system with two AMD RX470 and a Nvidia 1070 running together mining Ethereum.

Each card will be mining independently as if they were alone. So as long as you can feed power for all of them at once you won't have incompatibilities.

An example of what the limitations a 2GB card could do. My 750 rn is being outmined by my Ryzen 7 1700X.

Wow! your amd card is outperforming your nvidia cards. This confuses me because I thought that in the gaming community that Nvidia cards are generally considered to be better. Is this the card that you have https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-1800X- ... B06W9JXK4G ? if so I'm going to consider getting it.

1. Thats an AMD *CPU*
2. Its a pretty new CPU compared to a pretty old GPU
3.Mining performance doesnt necessarly reflect normal usage performance.
4. Usually Nvidia have better high-end GPUs than AMD, but AMD mid-tier GPU are usually pretty competitive with Nvidia Price/performance ratio

The CryptoNight algorithm (most famously used in Monero [XMR]) is one of the few where CPUs can still be competitive with mid-level GPUs. However, the high-end AMD Vegas can hit 2000+ H/s on it:

And you can still buy one here:
