BitTorrent (Azureus) - download speed slow?
Hey, I have Telus DSL 640K up and 1.5mbps downstream, and had a quick question about Azureus download speeds...
Theoretically, if I was only capable of 1mbps downstream, I should be able to max out at 125 kB/s (1000 / 8)...and I get there (and above) occasionally for a couple of minutes, but then it generally falls straight back down and tends to average out around 40 kB/s...other than outlook and MSN it's the only apps running on my comp that use any bandwidth...
I'm using a Microsoft wireless router that opens the port with UPNP & the windows sp2 firewall that also opens the requisite ports...
Any ways to up the speed? I've set the max upload to 30K, 40K, 50K without noticing much difference in download happening...would it make a difference?...

It depends on what you're downloading, and from where (tracker). BT speeds aren't exactly predictable...

Well, if you're hitting speeds greater than the theoretical max, then it sounds like your connection is configured properly. You probably are just experiencing the standard variations seen in any P2P network. Are you dl-ing very popular stuff (i.e. lots of shares?) or rare stuff?

I was using ABC, and then switched to BitComet last week, it works like abc and has a nicer gui, plus you can download specific files of a torrent.

Also, any idea on what I should say to them - my BitTorrent downloads are really slow??
