So over the weekend and into Cyber Monday, what's the best choice for a 240/256 GB SSD. For me reliability beats out speed. It will be my first SSD, so they will all be much faster than I'm used to.

Ncix has an ocz agility 4 256gb ssd for $140 :

Dell has a sandisk 240gb ssd for $170 :

Personally I have had nothing but problems with ocz so I avoid them as much as possible now. I picked up a laptop from dell on Friday and I am waiting to see if Monday brings any better deals on Monday before ordering.

I heard the Samsung 840 isn't reliable. Only the 840 PRO, or go with the 830.

Everything seems to be sold out at memoryexpress... I haven't seen too many good Canadian SSD deals

There's a whole scientific article to answer your question.

Also the 256 GB agility 4 was $99 after $10 MIR and the 120GB vertex 3 was $49, both at tigerdirect. Those were some of the better deals this weekend. Both went out of stock and came back in stock at least once so it might be worth checking.

- Where can you get the latest firmware? I have two fold question. I picked up two OCZ vertex for $50.00. Usually hold out on bad products but this one was hit or miss and price was decent. I installed one into an old pc, with sata 1, sata 2 not sure which one. I was getting 150mbp/s. I plan to use the second OCZ vertex 3 for either my new notebook or as a backup incase one of my other ssd's die. I currently have a Kingston SSD Hyper X as my main in my new rig, and I purchased an Intel 330 SSD 180gb to act as a primary drive after I clone the drive to from the Kingston to the Intel, the Kingston will be the secondary drive. Should I merge the two drives together. Apparently it's not a wise decision because you lose Trim and it can degrade the drives?
What about my old sata/sata 2 drive, should I update the firmware for it? Since the OCZ's ues sandforce and drivers are more reliable now. As I keep reading about.
