I have a bunch of books waiting to be transferred from my computer -
how do I get them onto BB PB so they be read??

Either hook it up to your PC via the USB cable and copy and paste them over to the PB itself or you can transfer it wirelessly which is more work.

i can't remember the name of the app i used. but i had to copy over files via usb/email/dropbox whatever and then open them with the app.
worked flawlessly as long the original .epub .mobi file was in good shape

I used epubreader when I had a PB. Just like everyone else has said, copy the books to the playbook via usb.

for free library ebooks (at least from Toronto Public Library) you'll need the Overdrive application from here

Use Calibre or the BlackBerry desktop software. You can also email them to yourself and just open the attachment.
