BB is one of the few that signing contract is in general smart move, not necessary RFDers but its intended base.

Do you actually think you save money in the long run (3 yrs) when you buy the phone at contract pricing?

why don't you tell everyone WHY buying on contract is so bad instead of just using your dumb facepalm. Fear of contracts is an irrational phobia. It's all about numbers.

Apparently Telus is telling me to go screw myself. Just looked at my offers on both lines (which have been off-contract since the beginning of November) and all I'm being offered are a bunch of tired old phones like the Galaxy Ace II X, the Lumia 610, and the Curve 9320. It's a shame because I just might have grabbed a $99 Z10 if it had been offered.

Instead of going to the Telus stores, why not try multi carrier stores? They always have lots in stock. I know of a few, Pm me for details.

NEVER go to you carrier's store. NEVER. They're not capable of offering you any deals that aren't already on paper. Girlfriend's contract expired, she went to the Telus store to see if she could get a simliar plan...they handed her the flyer and told her those were her options, plus 35 dollar activation, etc. She walked out, called Retentions, bam. Better plan, better phone, less money. Same thing happened at the Bell store to me. Those stores are there to catch impulse buyers with their fancy phone displays.

Sounds odd, like a mistake. My GF has 15 months left with her current contract and her Telus Z10 offer is 3 years and $238.

$50/mo on 3yr
If you only want 2yr then see the above post and do the math on a cancelation after 24mo of your 36 month contract

To elaborate, my point was not that contracts are evil, but that 3 year contracts are borderline extortionate and only in Canada are they considered the norm. In the UK an SGS3 or an iPhone 5 can be had for "free" (note the quotations since it's obviously not actually "free") on a 2-year contract (orange.co.uk). Similarly if you hop on over to the Verizon website you'll see the 2-year contract is the norm in the US as well.
Only in Canada do we allow ourselves to be *****, and then call anybody "stupid" who doesn't site quietly and like it.

Your GF probably has the offer plus would need to pay off remaining device balance, which is probably low.

I am now monthly and when I login it shows "save an additional $50 when trading in a non-SIM phone". My BB Z10 offer is $149 / month for 3 years.

Perhaps the Z10 is intended as a Valentines gift?
Why would you want to sign a contract then cancel? you see how that works? sometimes there might be a simple yet valid reason to NOT want to sign a contract and do unneeded credit check.

I'm not seeing this offer either. 3 Year renewal (I'm 22 months into my plan) on a plan of $60+/mth, the Z10 is still $150 for me.

Just got back from the Telus store with my Z10.
Was exactly as the offer showed. $99 on 3 year renewal and a $50 bill credit. So total cost is $49 plus tax (plus the contract of course)

There have been 3 year terms that have been VERY beneficial right here in Canada (see this thread). At Christmas time a 3 year agreement could have netted you a galaxy note 3 from costco for $20 + $225 in gift cards. Guess what? They pay you $200 to take the phone! And these were all on the $56 2gb unlimited canadawide plans. You said "Nothing with a 3-year term is a hot deal. Ever." So yes, stupid indeed. It is likely you who needs to look outside your own daily existence to see what the world beyond your fingertips has to offer. You should continue living in your bubble and thread crap because you are too stupid to recognize a deal.
Besides, who cares what other countries are selling phones for and what their contract periods are. Can you get them here in CANADA where this site is based and where it's users are based? That's like saying you can get better quality ****************. Ever.
