Is a $50 one going to do the job or do you need a $200 camera.

For my purposes, I'd doubt I'd need anything more than a simple $50 camera. I don't believe youtube viewers will be particular interested in my driving back and forth to work.
Why you ask?

I've had my blackvue for about 2 years and I can say it's one of the best investments I've made for my vehicle.
I have been involved in a few accidents and all have been caught on camera including a hit and run over night when the car was parked. Guess what? Sensor picked up the hit and I was able to find out exactly when this was (I didn't have to look through hours of video) and caught the guy including his plate. Police charged him with hit and run.

I'm also dealing with an incident where it's a he said she said no witness moving accident. Dash cam video will prove me right.

I wouldn't recommend cheaping out on a dash cam and would definitely recommend a blackvue.

This problem was fixed since DR500.

Also, max 32gb memory card supported (I tried using a reformatted 64GB card, but it kept crashing every few weeks). Parking mode killed my battery (although apparently the BRZ battery is not great to begin with). However, not many dual channel setups out there.
Works fine for me. Are you using the latest firmware?

As for the battery, you need to use the power magic... All cameras require it if you want recording while car is off..

Here is a video from my first day of using it, caught the aftermath of an accident. Keep in mind that the sun was directly shining at the camera.

Here are some pictures of how it looks mounted on the car. All wires are tucked away and not visible. Video will come tomorrow as i forgot to bring the microsd with me.

How hard is it to wire from rear to the front? You have to take apart all the top liner panels?

I got it done at a shop but you can simply just stick the wires into the pillars as there are lots of gap in between them.

I have power magic, even with just 6 hour cutoff it killed my battery after 3 months. Haven't updated firmware yet, was hoping someone was going to make a custom firmware that upped the bitrate, but apparently the latest firmware from pittasoft stopped that.

You can get one from http://www.blackboxed.ca/collections/ha ... cts/lk-350. I'm using this and it regulates your battery. This way, it knowswhen to cut off the power to the dash cam, so that you will still have power to turn your car on. Works perfectly for me. I hate wires and I get to hide all the wires with this, making it an extremely clean install.
