Blank Minidiscs
Where can I find minidiscs for less than 5/each? Futureshop and BB both sell the 5 packs at $25 and I've always thought that was a bit pricey. Any ideas?

Jul 21st, 2004 05:43 PM #9Sony doesn't make Mini Discs... just Mini Disc technology. They put their brand on other people's media

Yea I could use some cheep minidiscs too. I picked up 10 when futureshop had the pricing mistake on the JVC ones, 5 for $5. And then I had to buy a minidisc player.
And now I'm not willing to pay much more than that for blank minidiscs._______________

Jul 21st, 2004 10:38 PM #11Good to know. So do they consistantly put their name on any particular media, or is it much like people put their names on CD-R? Is there any maker of minidiscs that is acknowledged as the best? Thanks

Found one
http://www.minidisc-canada.com
They would appear to sell media a lot cheaper than any of the big names. They're based in Montreal but I don't know anything about them beyond that. They also have the new Hi-MD players a lot cheaper than lister at sonystyle.ca
Thinking about getting one of the Hi-MD players. I like my sports MZ-S1 though because I use it skiing and its deals just fine with the evaportation/condensation inside my jacket.
Anyone know anything about the new players?

Jul 22nd, 2004 12:56 AM #13I'm sure it's a consistant supplier. Sony doesn't like to change once they have a system in place... although the system might allow for multiple suppliers like with their CD-Rs and DVDRs... but more likely it is just one source.

Actually, I've heard that Sony doesn't even make the inner components of their TV's any more. Apparently they're made by Hitachi or Samsung ( not sure what manufacturer), but they use their own plastics, put their badge on it, and mark it up.
