I bought it from the official Xiaomi Online store a couple of weeks ago. At the time it was $150 USD, however now I see it is up to $184 USD. I wanted to order it directly from Xiaomi for fast shipping.

So if you need to order it today, another seller is a better option. I don't have experience with the other Aliexpress stores.

This is the seller I used:

I choose standard mail shipping so hopefully there won't be duties, but that's YMMV. With DHL shipping getting hit with duties is almost guaranteed.

I see this store currently has the Gold version for $147 USD. Black and Grey are a few bucks more

I would also suggest ordering a case and a screen protector when you order the phone. You won't find one in Canada.
Thanks, that was helpful

Actually this is a much lower price than the people who got it from US. I paid 131.71US including shipping and import fees and with the exchange at 1.35. my total was $178. This one here with taxes is 158 which is 20 cheaper. The big issue was the multi touch but they seemed to have that fixed with a patch that BLU released yesterday. It is a decent unit for the price but beware that BLU has a reputation for not updating software. They said they will have a release for Nougat but don't trust them until you see it.
Even if the phone gets Nougat, I wouldn't expect the monthly security updates. It's too bad as the hardware is amazing for the price but Blu has managed to mess up the launch.

Does anyone in P-Mall sell Xiaomi phones themselves? If so, how do the prices compare to Aliexpress, etc.?
Yes, but it's usually under glass with the rest of their usually refurbished phones so YMMV. I even saw some BLU phones there.

Disturbing reports of battery drain issues and poor battery life (on a 4000 Mah 720p phone this is totally unacceptable).
From XDA
the update seems to have fixed the battery calibration issues. Now it doesn't drop as fast as it seemed to before.

I think this works out to be cheaper than the US 1 day launch sale.
I bought it and actually like the phone for my uses after yesterday's multitouch software update.

Guess I'll need to contact Amazon for a price adjustment
This isn't likely to be successful as the deals are on two different sites (Amazon.com vs Amazon.ca) and involving different currencies.

Then if I can be bothered to save $20 I'll just return and rebuy. Even if we never get Nougat this phone is definitely worth the low cost.

I was surprised when my Blu phone (different, cheaper model) told me there was an update available to download. Since it's almost 500mb I'm guessing it's an update from Marshmallow to Nougat.

Perhaps Blu has realized their weak spot is in updates and getting better at it...
Should we have open retail markets to bring more UK and US retailers to Canada?http://forums.redflagdeals.com/wegmans- ... #p27788812

Unfortunately, that model isn't quite as forgiving to drops as my $1k phones have been and the screen is in pieces.
Pretty sure that's not a Blu issue per se. It's that your phone didn't have gorilla glass. Some Blu models do have that instead of the usual kind.

Please confirm if it is indeed a Nougat update for your Blu phone.

My OnePlus One is finally giving out (can't make or receive calls for whatever reason) so I need a new phone and these cheap ones tickle my fancy. OnePlus 5 looks to be almost as expensive as flagships... what's the go-to for someone who wants vanilla Android with decent chipset/components?

Did you install the update? Did it fix the multi-touch issues for you?
Yes, it has resolved the 2 finger multi touch and zooming in out works fine now with google maps. I have no idea if the 3 finger is resolved since I've never used that feature before.
