Highly doubt it. You'll need a player first, and I doubt those will go on sale.

Will any of these formats have good prices on boxing day? I hoping to get a few Blu-Ray movies, but I dont know if i should wait.

You might see the first generation HD-DVD players on sale or bundled with movies as Toshiba is/will soon be coming out with new versions

Don't know about that, the first month Toshiba came out with the HD-A1 HD DVD for $699.99. Using my "RFD Skills" LOL I managed to get it for $572.99.
kevin01, I think it's the usual 10%...we've seen them several times this year. Get them now with GC Savings or order them at amazon.com with the 10% off. Why wait?_______________

Yeah, the only deals in the pipeline are probably save 10% off titles at BB and FS - which only means the prices are then about the same as Amazon.com.... I'm not planning on grabbing a bunch of HD DVDs on boxing day, but I'll place a fair sized Amazon order after I see which titles I get for Xmas...

I refuse to commit to a format until I find out which one gets Pirates of the Caribbean

Or if I somehow wind up with a PS3._______________

a little premature, don't you think?
i'm not turning this into a blu-ray vs. hd-dvd war, as i'm on the fence about the whole thing myself, but i have read a good chunk of info about both, and there seems to be just as many things going for hd-dvd as there is for blu-ray...
i will say though that i'm antsy about getting in on the next-gen dvd bandwagon because i've seen both formats in action, and the movies look breathtaking for both of them...

Yeah, why assume it'll be released on the inferior standard?

Right now Disney only supports Blu-ray, but who is to say that when POTC 1-3 hit HD they won't be a dual support studio...only time will tell.

Studios are going to crack and do both until one format dies or falters in market share. They want royalties and sales from their movies and they know consumers would buy em.
