Seeing as my Blu-ray player is scratching the piss outta my disks, I need to protect my investment. Besides DVD Fab & Handbrake what do most people use to rip their own blu-rays.

If your Blu-Ray player is scratching your discs, you need a new Blu-Ray player. That shouldn't ever happen.
Check Giveawayoftheday.com once in a while for free Blu-Ray rippers like the one from Aiseesoft.

Those are the 2 I ended up using...any issues with them to look for alternatives which will probably cost you money?
Now converting Blu-Ray to DVD is a PITA. I need DVD still for my kids as I don't have BluRay readily available everywhere.

and note that ripping blurays can be illegal if it requires breaking any kind of digital lock now according to the new laws...even for backup purposes.

I use MakeMKV to rip a 1:1 copy of my BR disc without any encoding.
I highly recommend this for sure.
