Hey folks, just wanted to make this thread because there is a little spot in Mississauga that I think never gets any mention or credit. It is a small eatery that has now turned southern BBQ (along with other common things like homemade burgers and wings) and I just had a great lunch there and took some pictures of the food. I usually get take-out.
Today I got a pulled pork sandwich, with homemade slaw on it, topped with their Jack Daniels BBQ sauce. They have like 5 varieties of homemade sauces here including a white sauce I haven't tried yet. Big fan of their JD sauce, hot sauce, and original barbeque sauce
It is at the corner of Eglinton & Tomken, right across the street from Nick's shawarma and is beside Money Mart
Sorry for the crappy camera-phone pics, but you should get the idea
Pulled Pork Sandwich. Homemade slaw on the bottom (can't see it). BTW the pork here is served DRY because many prefer it this way; you add the sauces with squeeze bottles by hand. Great sweet potato fries, I get them every single time
Also decided to try a pound of their jumbo smoked wings. I got mine "jerk style" which comes... jerked. They also do a "jerk pork loin" which I'm told is really good, that will be next on my list to try
These wings are massive! Way bigger than Wild Wing or TJ's or anything like that
Me and my little bro split all the food and both agreed it was friggin delicious. So do yourself a favor if you live in Mississauga and check the place out, I feel that the place doesn't get enough recognition nor word of mouth.. Really lucky to have a place like this in Sauga. Too bad I don't live closer though
Cheers!
PS: Some might remember a real old post by me saying I found their food underseasoned but they have undergone major menu/recipe changes since then, and are also in the process of bringing Tri-Tip shaved beef (pit beef?) and Beef Ribs onto the menu soon!

Duckdown, do you know if this place is open tomorrow? My son has a Tae Kwon Do tournament in Miss. tomorrow and I would love to try this place. If not any other suggestions? I love Paul and Sandys but it will be too far outta the way. Thanks.

GJ on the pics.
I work a minute from there. And usually hit every other place around it, but have never gone into Blue Sage. It doesn't look like a BBQ place from the outside.
But those jumbo wings have me sold. Might get them tonight._______________

No prob
I as well used to always drive by it and wonder what the hell it was. I thought it was a bakery or something like that... I got the notice they were doing BBQ from someone on another food forum a while back, have been going since then. My initial visit I had some issues with the food but they've changed it all up and I've been going for some time now
Sorry I'm not sure... i think this is one of the places that closes early and isn't open Sunday
pretty sure they close by like 8 o'clock or something. i do wish they were open later_______________come troll our unofficial chatroom at #redflagdeals on EFnet

Ya man, it doesn't look like a BBQ place from the outside, I didn't have a clue what it was until someone told me.. i get the idea that he's a caterer first and foremost and also have this storefront during the day.. they seem to do alot of catering
The wings were good but I gotta tell you they were sweet and not hot, its their homemade jerk flavoring.. and the guy isn't Jamaican... so if you're going expecting authentic jerk spice wings these might not fit the bill. Also they weren't cheap, I think 9 bucks plus tax or something just for a lb. but they're way bigger than your average lb. of wings
I think their pulled pork sandwich (comes with choice of side) is a good deal though.. Sandwich is quite large and so is the portion of sweet potato fries.. it's not cheap eats but there's not really any food like it close by

Thanks for the info. I, too, drove by this place many times, and had no idea it was a BBQ place.
I'll try pulled pork first, and then those wings... I hope they have brisket too.

Have you officially taken on the role of trying to make everyone on this forum go overweight from eating all kinds of foods?

thanks for the suggestion OP...
i drive by tomken/eglinton all the time for the past 5 years and have NEVER seen or heard of this place...i do see the moneymart but that's it...
my question: is this more of a take out kind of restaurant or a dining in restaurant?
it sure looks like something different to eat...will try it soon for sure...
and keep up the good work on reviews of different places...especially mississauga...always want to try different places..._______________

They have a brisket, I don't think I've tried it though!
Oh man, pulled pork is great. Finely shredded pork mixed with barbeque sauce & cole slaw. You will definitely like it
I think the pulled pork meal is 11 bucks or something but it's a very big sandwich and the portion of fries or whatever is hefty too. You won't be hungry at the end of it!
LOL, well I'm already a fat guy, so I guess I'm trying to make everyone else too
There are tables to dine in, but theres no table service etc. I have never dined in but I'm sure it's even better eating it there
Thanks for the comments all!_______________come troll our unofficial chatroom at #redflagdeals on EFnet

They have brisket. I thought it had good flavour (probably the smokiest of the meats I tried - brisket, wings, ribs), but I found it a bit too fatty for my liking and I usually like a bit of fat on meats. I had a chance to speak to the owner (very quiet early in the evening) and he mentioned specifically that his brisket has lots of good fat on it. I found it overwhelming, almost a 1-to-1 ratio of beef to fat.
They have combo platters that allow you 3/4 picks of meat and a few sides (I liked their beans - nice bite, not mushy). It is a bit out of the way for me, else I would have gone back sooner.
