Hey, I've been following the latest posts on this thread but haven't seen the churning time limit brought up.

Anyone reapply for the card and get the first year waived? It's been 6 months so I feel it's safe to do but want to confirm.

Do you still earn points when purchases are deducted from a remaining balance on the card?

what do you mean by remaining balance? Like having a debit balance after a refund or overpaid the card?

No I mean I redeemed my points and now have credit remaining. If I continue to spend on the card, will I earn points?

Of course you are earning points, which are based on transaction not your balances.

..credit...as in credit limit? Anyway if it's normal spending and you are on good standing, dont see why you won't earn points.

I will have a 4 card setup now: Restaurants/Travel/Entertainment - BMO RWE (2.14% Travel CB), Gas/Groceries/Recurring - TD CB Infinite (3% CB), Foreign stuff - Rogers CB (1.50% Net CB), Everything else - MBNA RWE (2% CB).
Almost the same setup with mine, except I'm putting Everything else on Rogers as well, since I still haven't pulled the trigger on MBNA RWE.

ZERO AF FTW! LOL

i dont really want to use the BMO anymore tbh but since i still have around 200k points might as well gain some more points and see if I can get the AF free for the next anniversary.

just leave it in a drawer and use it on apple/android pay. That's what I'm doing. Though, mine is free with bankup promo. not sure if yours is.

I totally understand. I was an advocate to cancel the card because I believe we should make BMO pay for the devaluation decision (and for considering us idiots by putting a "positive" spin on it). Then since I'm on BUP, I will milk the card for the travel insurance and PP access when I'm traveling. I don't even have any points to start with since BUP does not qualify for sign-up bonus (another thing that pisses me off and I didn't know until after the fact), so I will make sure I'm a liability - BMO has to pay, one way or another. lol

I don’t even know if I will use the BMO WE for anything besides food when I am not meeting minimum spends and lounge passes.

PC WE had 3% back and OK insurance.

They even had some flights that were not showing on BMo Rewards site.

I think BMO is the only card where they give you trip insurances even though you charge your trip partially on the BMO card.

Given the 2.14% return on trips with insurance package, I think it's still the best deal in Canada.

No credit as in there is a negative balance on my card. I don't know if spending this negative balance will earn me points

I'm mad at them - they declined me for no particular reason!

It should - likely treated the same way if you overpaid a bill
