Don't bother with caliper covers, they decrease performance as they are cutting airflow and look tacky as well IMO.

You are in Toronto. You can visit Simply Tires (Keele & Finch). They will have a group buy coming this Fall, around mid to late Sept with a bit of special pricing for the early birds. Not sure if you are looking for factory used winter set of brand new ones.

see page 10 of 2015 catalogue for the X5/X6 - for the early bird group buy, there is another $50 or so being knocked off for the tires/replica wheels package deal. Then there is the tire manuf. winter rebate too that you submit to get some more $ back.

they also have painted caliper services too. Mine you, it is NOT powder coated, just painted that should last a few years time

I've had my eye on this M Performance Edition MY15 335 for almost a month http://www.autotrader.ca/a/BMW/3+Series ... p=10_15_10

3 weeks ago they said their lowest was 56,500 and now 55,500 but plus 495 doc fee and tax. I'm at 52k + tax only and we are still too far apart. They said that this car has the most traffic on their site since lowering the price last week, so I told them "sounds like it will be gone in no time". Even if I came up to 53K + tax they won't come down below 55k............yet. If I was local I'd offer 55k cpo'd, but I'm probably looking at almost 2k to ship the car to Halifax.

My search continues........They have 2 "new" in stock @ MSRP, but I'm not paying MSRP + 3K+ PDI/Frieght and then another 2K to ship. for a 2 year old model car (even if new).

Not a deal at all. I picked up a '16 340i demo (with every option, 2,000 kms) for not too much more than they're asking for a '15 335.

Heres some pictures of the brakes (it's still at the lot) , maybe I'm paranoid but man, would 40K do that to a car?

If you want to spend some $ yourself to get new brake rotors and pads anyway, the above link offers you some choices and their prices are decent and you can pick them up yourself to save some shipping charges. (Hwy 400 & Finch area)

try to get the ones that are e-coated (rotors)
Normal if brakes haven't been used for a while.

I am planning to buy a winter tire package for my 328i (yes, I bought one and thanks for the helpful advise).

My question is are the replica wheels included in simplytire's package any good? Any feedback from others?

>90% of replicas are made in China . They are 'hit & miss' in terms of quality. A set of these wheels are selling at around $700 est.

If you don't hit a lot of rough roads and potholes, then you should okay.

Recently noticed smoke coming out during cold starts in the morning, haven't noticed any smoke throughout the day. Seem like the car is burning oil, I use Liqui Moly and this is the first time I've noticed the oil gauge hitting the mid mark. (never had a issue with burning oil after switching from OEM oil), Also noticed smoke under hard acceleration; only from a stand still.

A friend of mine said it can be a leaking head gasket, But i would like a second opinion.

^Seems it could be some oil getting through the rings. What viscosity of oil are you using? I'm not a BMW expert, but is there a serviceable PCV valve/Crankcase Breather Valve on those engines that might need changing as when they clog they can create a lot of back pressure on the engine.

Wondering what rates most of you are getting. I have an odd arrangement where I'd need bmw financial services to finance a Porsche purchase, but they don't offer anything under 5.74% Here. None of the dealerships here (even bmw) follow the bmw website rates and you have to sign to agree to 5.9 first before they "look" for a better rate for you

I bought some 19" Replika 141A wheels for my BMW in January 2016 for my winter tires and I am very happy with them. I think they look great and have had no problem with them and they only cost $200 each.

Yeah see your point, but the big difference here is the 340i isn't limited production. The MY15 335i MPE was limited to 200 in Canada, but still it's 2 model years old. 56,900 is just a little high, but within average deal, I'm looking for a great deal ;)

So I pulled the trigger, 2012 328i 6MT. 41k kms on it, clean CarProof but not a CPO. However starting to get worried over it, after reading more and more horror stories about N20 timing chains, though seems like most happen around 60k miles/100k kms. So I guess I'm worrying too much or not?

congrats.

If you have done the PPI and your mechanic have indeed checked out the car pretty thoroughly, then there is not much you can do for now. After all, mechanical and electrical components can go at any time even if you baby the car.

You can consider getting aftermarket warranty, like Coverage One or you can still get factory extended warranty but it is going to be fairly costly, nearly $3500+.

Lastly, since you are in Toronto, I think you already know there are a bunch of reputable mechanics that can repair your car at a reasonable rate.
