curious if low on oil ,,does the service light come on...its been 17000 kms since last oil change and have an appointment next sat..but curious if low on oil ,,does oil light come on,,,unlike other cars I had ..I just look at the dipstick..
thanks
IMO that is a bit too long, usually you like to do 10000-12000km. By then the oil is usually already a bit dark and dirty. Don't rely on the oil service light. Not related to your model but that's how a lot of people blow their turbos- they let their oil get too dirty. There should be yes, an oil level sensor. It will alert you if you're running low on oil.

20,000km / 12 months interval change is what BMW used to recommend because they have the free maintenance. A few years ago, they have revised it to 15,000km / 12 months interval change and I still think it is too long esp. for turbo engine cars. If you love your car, then I think changing out oil every 6 months would be ideal. Just saying.

Make sure they use the right oil ... it takes 5w30 and should be BMW ll-01

Since you are in Mississauga, go to techmax .. Saturday opens 8-2 ... so their website says. Tech max.ca

thanks
will check them out
looking back at email from Dixie bmw

Service intervals are once a year from the last date of service or when your vehicle indicates the service is due.

will scrap what they say and do every 6 months

It is usually mileage or every 6 months if you don't put on >=10000km or so within that time. If you drive a lot you may have to change oil sooner.

update..

did not want to wait til next Saturday...so brought it to cross auto in Oakville,,not to far from me...as they do European cars..they are very knowledgeable...oil change was 140
did tell me had about 20 percent left on brakes in the back..500 dollars for brake job for the rear..think that's a little high...also I have had nothing wrong with car since I bought used a couple of years ago,,but he told me things go wrong approx. 120000 kms...I have 105000 kms....also at 120000 to do tuneup which is sparkplugs plus air filter and fuel injection cleaning 600 dollars..the amount quoted,,are they high

thanks

need to get rear brakes done on bmw 323i 2011

dealer wants Dixie bmw
The cost of the labor for the rear brakes is approximately $ 210.00+ taxes and the cost of the parts for the rear brakes are $ 450.00+ taxes

I know a mechanic at a garage that can put them on...just need the parts..just rotor and brakes shoes,,what type would recommend and buy where as want to get them on next saturday
thanks

Looking at the residuals on the BMW site the majority of their models are around 50% at the 3 year mark. Where can one find these half price 3 year old cars? The asking prices on Autotrader, Kijiji are ridiculous.

when the lease ends, car is given back to BMWFS, in turn, the dealer will be given the first opportunity to buy the car from BMWFS at the stated residual price (+/-), dealer will in turn mark it up by around 30-35% for the real low mileage and clean ones, therefore, the buying public will not get the car at this "residual" value.

So, is it normal for dealers to discount these vehicles in the 20% range?

I guess another option is to go through dealer auctions for passed over models.
