European brands seem to have slightly better quality in their steel treatment. It may come down to washing the car more often to get rid of salt during winter months.

God to know, thanks. How well do these handle winter in terms of rust? I park outdoor. Do the turn into rust bucket if they were not initially rustproofed?
If you take care of your car, it'll take care of you. Just wash and polish your car lots. I've driven RWD convertible BMWs in Alberta winters for the past 5 years and never have seen 1 spot of rust on them (the last one being a M4 Cab). The Esso auto touchless washes are also good for hitting the undercarriage good. It sometimes can be a pain to spray hard-to-get-to areas in there manually with a pressure washer at an angle.

Weird as I noticed that too here. See a lot less rusted Euro vehicles than any other make. Also, in very low temperatures like -30C, -40C, and below, the Euro vehicles still start without having to have a block heater plugged in. I used to lol when I'd drive away from work sites/staff housing as others would be stuck because their vehicles wouldn't start from being left in the cold.

Is there any point to rust proof cars if you aren't going to keep it past 8 years?
No, waste of money, unless you’re buying an old car.

No need to rustproof these cars. BMW corrosion resistance is excellent. MB is pure shit, basically the Mazda’s of the euro brands lol

I’ve yet to see a E9x with rust and those are 12-13 year old cars now. Very rare do you see an E46 with rust and if it does it’s minor.

Hello Everyone,

I am going to buy 2018 BMW X3 with the Premium Essential Package and below is the quote i got. Kindly let me know if its a fair deal or i can negotiate more.

MSRP - $48,000
Premium Essential Package - $4,900
Freight & PDI - $2,145
Misc fee (OMVIC, AC tax and all) - $250
Subtotal - $55,295

Think 1. Storing your winter tyres in summer 2. Folding your seat down so you can through load. Both are garbage anyway.

And yes shocked about the gas thing -> I was about to suggest carrying my own Costo gas in a container :D

did you check out the others (piggyback) ? It would seem power bump is decent without doing any hardware changes.

power bump is always associated with lower MPG or can the effect be just more tailpipe emissions?
