static is a problem on most grinders. try a drop or 2 of water on the beans before grinding...seems to help a bit. And different beans will produce different levels of static.
I find the darker the roast, the lower the static. Is there anything to that?

It's not going to be able to grind espresso (even though it claims to), but for regular brews & pourovers, it does the trick. Note: If you have one of those dual wall portafilters, this could work in theory, cause it matters much less...
Is it good for a French press? I need the grind to be super coarse. Thanks.

I found it made excellent coffee in my french press. It's the only kind of coffee maker I have. I don't like the static though, it bugs me.

Might be because the darker roast, the more oily they are. The lighter roast, the more dry beans are.

Fact check, none of the above is valid.

Good deal. I switched to a Breville grind control coffee maker so I ended up giving my bodum to a coworker. Solid little grinder that is a perfect means of upping your coffee game.

Is this thing loud?
My current grinder is pretty loud, like you can't carry a conversation in the room while the thing is going.
Of course it's loud. It's a grinder.

I don't think it's that loud. Nothing compared to a blendtec or vitamix.

The price is awesome

Just to be clear, assuming you don't have $300 for a grinder, are you guys saying you'd rather buy pre-ground supermarket-packaged espresso that's been sitting on shelves for 8 weeks vs use a grinder like this 30 seconds before you're going to draw a shot?
If I only had a choice of a subpar grinder for espresso, I'd rather not make espresso at home to be quite honest. If you really like espresso and drink it regularly, it's probably worthwhile for you to shell out for a high quality grinder and espresso machine as they last for years. If you're on a budget and try doing espresso with this grinder and aeropress, it's going to end up being pretty miserable anyways. Though overall, this grinder is very good for the price.

Re-reading your comment, if you already have a decent espresso machine, I just cannot see how you wouldn't be able to shell out for a good grinder lol. This is like a hypothetical that would never arise in real life.
