Theres a new member (damonward) in a thread I started who is promoting a certain website. Look at his post history.

i-need-50-usb-flash-drives-1648001/#post21168525
I reported someone else today who obviously spamming the exact same site. This is the one I reported (cherryjiyong):

home-surveillance-system-based-cheap-wi ... st21157973

And here the two of them are talking to each other:

kingsbuying-reputated-supplier-tablets- ... st21126523

His 1st post on RFD, last October [link]:
Image

.. then 8 days later he started his own thread [link] to promote the website/service he works for - as the first thread he posted in was about a competitor's service.

Currently only 4 of his 47 posts on RFD are *not* related to his free service.

Also, since his first post, he's changed his sig to include a text ad and link to the site.
(Unrelated: Post#9 there reveals another member [link] who is advertising in their sig).

Post#4 in his thread was this:

How do you guys make money thus avoiding the "do not advertise" rule?
and his reply (Post#6):

Simply put, we do not make money. Creating something that becomes popular and useful is the main motivation.
Yet the FAQ on the website he's promoting states also states: "We also employ limited ads on the website itself to help offset costs of hosting."

His RFD thread has 27,000 page views and almost 200 posts in it - I'm sure they've made considerable money thanks to RFDers who have clicked-through to the site, let alone used it and returned.. every 30 days as is required in order to continue use of the service.

Another fairly obvious future spammer right here:

Looks like they've changed tack...sign up and post some inane stuff (often with the usual bad grammar) and then ask how to go about promoting their business.

Paying attention to vivid detail is not a bad thing, the only thing we should avoid is not going to a extreme point. then others will be satisfied with you, and you will also realize that even though you didnt pay so much attention, you can still happy with the results. Just try it.

Thanks for the insightful thread I definitely learned a lot. Will recommend it to others.
This is the great ideological divide of our times: not between left and right but between those of us who believe in truth; and those who believe, Oprah style, that we’re all entitled to our own truths and that everyone’s is equally special.

I think there are some users that are utilizing RFD as a way to improve their English skills.

Is that bad?

I have noticed a few posters who have similar attributes and such.

They seem to be the same person, but I am not sure why they create a new account, maybe they post from one computer and then create a new ID on a new dektop/laptop? They have something that makes me think they are the same user, but it is kind of a stretch. I just remember that detail and not the poster's name.

'LUVTHADEALS' signed up on Feb 27th, made a couple of posts, then in this post redflag100-1685809/#post21762575 spammed the forums for a website that I suspect is the same one he talked about registering with GoDaddy here:

Enter Promo Code REDFLAG100 at checkout to receive the full discount.
As the coupon code is a blatant giveaway to his involvement/what the site is doing, I suspect foolish naivety is to blame rather than wilful deceit of forum rules. Either way, I would recommend RFD Admin add the website to the censored word list until the site owner decides they want to become a sponsored poster. ;)
