THE BRICK warrantee - worth it??

Buying a Frigidaire washer & dryer for $1 k - they charge $160 for the warrantee. From The Brick -- worth it??

frigidaire is a good brand...we have our washer and dryer for over 15 years now and it's still goving strong...the only time we had our washer repaired by our neighbour (who does maintenance of appliances) was my dad was smart enough and forgot to take a screw out from his pocket..

and unless you do like 5 loads of laundry a day...it will not break down within the extended warranty period

I just bought a Whirlpool Duet Washer/Dryer at the brick today.

I dont ever buy extended warranty but went for the 5 year one on these. Can cost a ton of money if they need repair. My purchase was 2K and cost me 220.00 for the warranty. You can cancel before 30 days if you change your mind.

Also the Brick has that full circle so if you dont use it when it is over you have 90 days and you can use what you paid towards a purchase at the Brick.

One thing that confused me when I got home it is a 5 year extended, so should it not end in 2014? Mine ends in 2013. Does the Manusfactures and the Bricks overlap for the first year?

I had a Frigidaire dryer **** out on me 2 weeks after the extended warranty ended. Save the money. Don't buy Frigidaire. Whirlpool far better name.

I agree, once I bought a Frigidare fridge, after 2 weeks it died. I exchanged it for a Whirlpool fridge. Worked great and it was better designed as well.

save your money. Most appliance's come with a decent warranty anyways. If it should fail, you'll notice it right away. But if you want the peace of mind, try negotiating the price of the warranty or bring your quote to sears home and get it priced matched there. Doesnt hurt to try

The Brick is crap. If you get the extended warranty, and actually try to use it, you will see that they will come up with all kinds of nonsense to try and refuse honouring their extended warranty. So, please don't waste your money.

In addition, the customer service is horrible at the Brick. If possible, try to to make your purchase at another retailer.

I disagree with the others, I bought a 2000$ tv 5 years ago from the brick, and got the extended warrenty for 199$, around 3 years into the purchase, i had vertical lines going through the screen. They sent a repair guy (non brick) and the bill was over 700$ which was billed to the brick.

my rule of thumb is no more then 15% of the value of the item for the warrenty.
