Building a handmade toy car
I'm building a toy car and I'm not sure as to how to make it. It has to be handmade. The only manufactured parts allowed is a motor, 2 AA batteries and some wires. I also need to make a handmade switch. Anyone know where they show you how to make one or anyone know how to make one?

Not much detail here... Why do you have to make it if you don't know how to make it?

Handmade? So you have to make everything? I was thinking of a rubberband drive train of somesort. Or gears but those aren't really hand made now are they. More details?

yah. It's for a science project. It could be made out of recycled materials around the house orr any sort of materials. A handmade switch to turn the car on and off and no manufactured parts except the batteries, motor, wires and gears. That's pretty much it..

what if you make the parts yourself on a lathe or a mill...is that considered hand made or manufactured?

you know, if you are allowed motor batteries and gears, there really isnt much left to make except for the shell.

True. Maybe the OP should just put on his creative thinking cap!

yah I guess. Would a water bottle act good as a shell? What about the wheels? maybe bottle caps or some jar lids? I'm thinking of having nice wheels that roll really good.

Big wheels = more torque but slower acceleration
Small wheels = more acceleration but less torque
Also you will need some traction and weight for your car. So bottle caps would probably need some rubber bands around them for it to work at all. How about using a pop bottle? Those are small and cute!

yah that's a good idea. what do you mean rubber bands around the wheels? placing rubber bands at the ends of the wheels?

Wrapping the rubbers around the wheel gives the bottle caps traction. Imagine the bottle cap as the wheel rims/hub and rubber bands as the rubber tires surrounding it.
