For any DIY'ers out there that are buying their Christmas tree this week:
If you buy your Christmas tree from Home Depot this Thursday November 29th to Wednesday December 5th receive a $25.00 coupon valid towards your next purchase of $100.00 or more between January 3rd and January 30th 2013.
I could not find a specific link to it on the HD website but it is in the flyer this week. Not a bad deal considering a half decent size tree will cost you about $35 bucks so in the end it would be like spending $10 bucks on a Christmas tree. Any RFDer can appreciate that![]()

Thanks! I looked at the flyer and it says it's for any fresh-cut or artificial tree. They have 5'-6' firs for $19.99 so it's like getting the tree for free, and getting 5% off a $100 purchase in January.

Try to combine this with a PM from rona to get 15% off,
but you might have to buy for up to 50$ worth of stuff.

It's tough to keep a cut tree looking good for that long, me thinks they're counting on you purchasing a second one the week before Christmas.....

Better to buy early if you are in a warmer climate. At home inside with a base full of sugar water is better than sitting outside in the dry air for 2 weeks before you take it home.
Thankfully (and unfortunetely) I don't have to worry about the warmer climate issue...

Tempting, but I'm not a fan of these buy now/buy later type of deals. I don't want to be forced to spend $100 at HD in January just to get the $25 they're promising me now. Ikea did something similar, last year.

Depends on what kind of tree you're buying - Douglas firs which are the most common cut Christmas tree (at least in western Canada) might not last that long. Noble firs on the other hand should easily last that long. A Noble fir will weigh considerably more than a Douglas fir of the same size due to its water retention. They are definitely more expensive though as well. Grand firs are somewhere in between as far as longevity, but will have the most potent smell.
...and that concludes Christmas trees 101.

my wife loves a specific artificial tree that HD is selling. I don't get a vote so this is probably the best deal I'm going to get. Thanks OP
