Buyer Beware! Check your invoice when buying Energy Star PST exempt products.
Has anyone else had this experience? I purchased a front loader washing machine, a dryer and a dishwasher. Both the front loader and the dishwasher are Energy Star rated and therefore PST exempt. The dryer is not exempt. Anyhow, I purchased these at the Brick and must admit I wasn't paying close attention to the salesman while he was filling out the invoice on the computer and I didn't double check the invoice.
It wasn't until I went to Sears to purchase a side by side refrigerator which was Energy Star so exempt that I realized I needed to check my invoice. The Sears salesman was very explicit when showing me how he was removing the PST which the computer had automatically included. He had to manually remove it which made me realize I should double check my Brick invoice.
Lo and behold, the PST was included on the invoice and I was not afforded the exemption. I just found out so I will have to phone the Brick tomorrow to rectify this problem but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem and to also warn people to check their invoices to make sure they weren't overcharged. You have to wonder if this is done on purpose as people today have so many things on their minds that they may overlook this. I must admit I would have realized it eventually when I had the time to go over the invoice when the item gets delivered, but still.

Nice you can do this at the till.
6 years ago it was a rebate and I had to fill out forms and get it back from the govt.
Sux to fill out forms and wait but I suppose that can always be the backup.

I was told if the washer and dryer is sold as an ensemble and has a different order number than just a washer then the computer can't figure out PST exemption.

There is no such thing as an EnergyStar clothes dryer, it does not exist. By design dryers are supposed to be energy inneficient...
Perhaps you should change your title to: "Buyer Beware, do your due diligence before buying appliances"?
