I would say Sears or The Brick(ugh). If you want one website that seems to have everything under the moon (except Bosch and Miele) checkout the US web site AJ Madison. They are a great place for research.

Buying appliances online?
Is there a canadian website where you can buy appliances online? I'm curious about the prices of different appliances but don't feel like going shopping... (bosh wall oven, different brands of dish washers, fridges, ...).

But with a website like ajmadison, I suppose that even if you factor in the exchange rate, we get ripped off here in canada right? Or is there a magical factor that we can multiply their prices with and which gives an idea of how much the same appliance could be bought for here in Canada (ie: that factor would be different than the exchange rate, it would be something like "exchange rate + rippoff factor")? I remember that when I was looking at blue flame gas ranges a while ago, they were a lot more affordable in the US compared to Canada...

The only way I could see you doing that would be to find an exact model match and compare the Canadian price to the US price because you're right, we never get the fair exchange.

Why would you want to buy online? You'll get some advice when you go to the store, but before you go, do some homework online first to narrow your search and get an idea of the pricing.
If you're looking at everyday brands, I find Sears.ca and Futureshop.ca will be the good starting point.
I find The Bricks' prices are more expensive.

Exactly.. but to do my homework properly before going in the store, I'd like to know the prices. What's the price difference between an advantium 120 / 240 / over the range / in-wall ? What about wall ovens, is a bosch that much more expensive than a kitchenaid or jenn air? What about a trivection? It's for a new house so I've got tons of options for the kitchen. Most stores don't carry all the products that I'm interested in so I'd have to go to multiple stores just to get prices and I'd rather avoid doing that.

I bought appliances from Futureshop last year. I did it because they pricematched and had free delivery.

For the washing machine, make sure to buy the front load as the savings will outweight the extra $ you put in.

Feb 22nd, 2006 06:11 PM #14Front loaders use much less water and electricity. Plus it's more gentle on your clothes.

LG and Kenmore are good brands for laundry._______________

LG are the only front load washers that use direct drive. I think more durable, quiet, and I think better warranty. That's what I've just bought and very happy with it so far.
