Buying a jaguar

Guys so this might be really dumb but here is the question, looking to buy a 2012 jag xf with warranty till 2019. Now it's going to run me around 32k with taxes and such. My question is has the depreciation already took place ? Or will I take another hit on it ?
And why not many jags on the road ? At 2012 onward they seem to get reliable.

I will be financing this not cash, so I'm wondering if I'll owe more on the car when time to trade it around warranty expire.
Off topic : The e92 is amazing, I drive it the most for now. S class is going decent mostly driven by the wife.
The jag will replace my Honda Accord

You're probably going to take another hit on it but not as hard as the first 3 years from new. I estimate by 2020 it will be worth around 18-20k.
What's the interest rate?

Not many Jags on the road because they still aren't perceived as reliable and more difficult to repair or find indie mechanics.
These luxury cars don't maintain their values too well.

Headlight redesign - check
Infotainment redesign - check
Fixed the catastrophic diff issue that plagued 09s and some 10s - check

Only thing is the v6 variants don't have the balls of the 4.2 or 5L v8s but everything else is an improvement from prior years.

Edit -the '12 still had the 5.0 v8 actually. Beast mode.

$32K taxes incl. Better be a loaded one. Once you factored in the interest and the wear & tear items that you may need to replace once you take possession, it is going to hurt even more.

Why not many on the road despite increasing reliability may be the reputation of old, styling and much more competition/options in that class and price range.
Many still go for the Germans off course.
Depreciation may be not because it is a bad vehicle but simply demand is not there as well.
Which means more bargaining power to you.
Always off course go for the newest and least mileage for the price.
Here is one from a private seller for comparison.

^you lose the v8 but gain awd in the '13 you've linked.

Also trim level obviously plays a role in price. I had the exact same model (white '13 awd v6) as a loaner for about a week and wasn't impressed. Lack of a v8 is disappointing and the trim level on the particular one that I had wasn't inspiring.

So 2012 is a safe bet ? And I mean it will be under warranty. You're the only person with extensive info on these on here. Thanks brother

Yeah, I was thinking so too. Because people still precieve it as unreliable.

Rarity (and depreciation) also depends on the ease of access of the vehicle brand, both in terms of dealers and in terms of availability of repairs/maintenance (both of which affect the other). The popular North American brands make a huge effort to get a very extensive network of dealerships everywhere which as a result drives sales which as a result drives mechanics to want to service those vehicles. The reverse is true and does affect resale.

Yeah it's a safe bet. I recall hearing that the water pump was a weak spot on the 11s and 12s but that's not a catastrophic issue (especially if you have a warranty).

You're going to enjoy the f out of this vehicle.

That's wholesale value bra. When it comes time to sell are you going to list it at what vmr says it's worth?

32K seems way too high. The reason why you don't see too many used ones is cause not many people buy Jaguars. They are not know to be the most reliable and a pain to maintain.

$32K with extended factory warranty ( I assumed) .. taxes included. Then it's decent (for a 5+ yrs old car)

Annual sales of Jaguar XF in Canada:

2008 - 315
2009 - 604
2010 - 449
2011 - 401
2012 - 344
2013 - 604
2014 - 567
2015 - 542
2016 - 542

This is why you don't see many for sales used - there just weren't very many sold new to begin with.
