Buying Laptop ASAP, require advise

I am looking for a laptop in the class of the Dell 9300. Can any one recommend a comparable laptop in the 2,000 price range?

Probably the way to go for you from the sounds of what you want. I find the 9300 to be too bulky personally, and the graphics card is very underpowered.

Does that include any CompleteCare?

Get ready to keep plugging in your laptop after 1 yr. The battery will probably get drained fast and it will soon become a desktop.

I recommend 15" tops, which the price will go down as well and you can get a more powerful laptop while staying in the same budget.

Sooooo maybe you just buy another battery? I don't know, just a crazy idea. Hey max that looks pretty good, i'm just thinking about the vid card. Is it enough? Are you going to be doing lot's of gaming?

You can but it will cost about $300+ Cdn per battery. Assuming they still make it 3 yrs later down the road for your particular model.

Battery life is not a priority and a second battery is about $150.00 The life span of the laptop will be three years until the warranty wears out. So battery life span is not a big issue assuming Dell covers batteries.

The 17in monitor is the most important requirement for the laptop so size and weight have been factored in. It will effectively be a mobile desktop with a 17in screen.

That being said any other helpful comments?

If its for work, then thats not an issue.

There are different opinions, but for more steady and work use, IBM and Toshiba are more preferred. Then again, there are ppl who completely hate these 2 brands, but from my own experience for these, I have a Toshiba laptop and its been no problems for 4 yrs now.

The i9300 is your best bet max. It's very hard to find a 17'' lappy for under 2 grand especially with those specs.

try doing some research with some other brands, alota my friends aren't really satisfied with Dell's notebook performance.

Does LG even sell a 17'' lappy in Canada? If so, i hardly think you can get one for under 2 grand

The reason why Dell, Toshiba and HP/Compaq are affordable is they aren't hard to find. As for LG, Acer and others, you have to pay whatever price when you can find them.
