What should I be expecting in terms of battery quality when buying from refurb.io?

Crappy resolution and poor quality panels is practically Lenovo's calling card, but the Thinkpad series is still rock solid

I bought a T430 when it was first released and I have the 9-cell battery. Based on the photo itself, it looks like it comes with a 6-cell battery.
So, my 9-cell after about 4+ years of usage, on full brightness it last me about 3.5 - 4h approx. I think from a 6-cell you may be looking at about 3 hours? I don't think they would provide a new battery but someone can correct me on that.

Someone else can chime in on their batt experience from refurb.io but, just an FYI on how much battery life to expect from someone who had a t430 from the beginning.

Thanks, 1600x900 is much better res and the T420 is just as solid a performer with a SSD; CPU is even upgradeable to i7-2640M.

Decent price for the T430....i have purchased before from ca.refurb.io and no issues. They come with a laptop skin on the top which is nice.

Slap in a SSD and this thing will be decent..

The battery is used but the one I had maintained a decent charge...better if you get the 9cell battery...you can also check Lenovo's battery recall and if you are really lucky, your battery might be replaced for free!

Screen res and viewing angles is absolute crap though!

If anyone is interested, I do have a 1600 x 900 screen pulled froma T420s that I am selling (check sig)...at least with the screen change the screen is now decent..

I cut and paste my comments from the T20 thread above with minor tweaks.

Just know also that the T420 and the T430 weigh a ton. If you want the slimmer version, go for the T420s or the T430s. I have the T430s with 8 Gigs of RAM and it is built like a tank, Swap the HDD for a SSD drive and you have a great machine on your hands.

BATTERY LIFE: I have the original T430s 6 cell battery, about 3 years old and the battery life is less than an hour. With a refurb, you may have less.

Not convinced that it is worth $311 plus taxes. Again, not thread crapping but opining, as quoted by RFD Guru Aviador.

Hope this helps.

Good points from StealthFinder

T420/T430 are thicker laptops, built like tanks...

I also opted for the slimmer T420s/T430s...because it is more portable vs. T420/T430...

Also worth noting that the T420/T430 doesn't have a soldered on CPU vs the T420s/T430s.....folks have been able to upgrade the CPUs on the T420/T430..

The T420s/T430s only take 6cell batteries whereas the T420/T430 can take larger battery slices (9cells)....if this is important to you..

Both have their pros and cons....depends on what is important to you..

Though overall, these are quality machines "non -s" and "-s", likely to last longer than other crappy brands...

yeah probably. although lenovo us refurbs are pretty damn cheap.

hell, up here its possible to grab that for 400 cad, maybe less. i got one when 440 just came out for roughly 500 all in with 3 year warranty onsite from a corporate reseller who had units to offload.

Where do you see $269 on Boxxaroo.com? I see $299 and that's GRADE B with 4GB of ram. Please don't say in the "past" yada yada. Currently Boxxaroo.com does not have anything close to this. Please stop comparing apples to oranges.
