Cameras at upcoming U2 concert?

Does anyone know what the policy is at the Roger's Centre in regards to cameras at concerts? I've got tickets for the U2 show on the 17th and was thinking about bringing my DSLR with only my 50mm prime. I know that at some events, like the FIFA under 20 world cup that happened in Toronto a couple of years back I couldn't have a lens that went past 70mm.

Says... no lenses larger than 3inches....

Where are your seats? You might want a bit more range? But a fast 50mm prime would be great. I hope you enjoy :D

Just about to head out to the show. I was going to bring my SLR but I got an e-mail stating the following:

" Please be advised that the following items are prohibited: video cameras, professional cameras, recording devices, laser pointing devices, cans, glass bottles, banners, flags, flagpoles, balloons, beach balls and any weapons. Please note that guests may be subject to a search upon entrance into Rogers Centre. "

While my xti isn't considered professional, in the eyes of security it may well look like it is. I'm going to stick to my Elph and hope for the best. Don't want any hassles.

Professional? That's lame.
Why are organizators so stupid.

Just got home. Did see a 2 SLRs while I was there so I guess you can take them in. However, security did come over and talked to one of the guys and was interested in the size of the lens. The security guy told him that the lens violated policy but he was willing to turn a blind eye as long as the guy used discretion. Not really sure what prompted the conversation as I only caught the end.

If you're going to tomorrow night's show you might be okay but YMMV.

I'm annoyed I didn't take my D60 but I didn't want to be stopped. Security wasn't looking too closely, they barely peered into my bag. And what gets me, people with superzooms get in because they don't look professional. This guy in front of me had a superzoom and no clue how to use it, kept popping his flash...dude, we're in the 500 level!! The opportunities were amazing for photos, with the dome open, the CN tower there, etc. Anyways, I just had a compact camera, noisy image as hell, but at least I have the memory.

maybe the guy had a flash that was so powerful it could reach the ground from the 500 level. like an abnormally huge flash LOLZ

Just got back from tonights show - I ended up bringing my DSLR with me, no problems. I ended up leaving on my 50mm 2.8 the entire time so I've got wide shots but hopefully a couple turned out.

Will post some when I get the chance.

This is the perfect excuse for buying something like the GH1 or GF1. It was made for situations like this:
- compact 10X lens available.
- 1080P or 720P video recording
- GF1 looks like a point and shoot, GH1 looks non-professional.

Very nice photos fledgling.

I've got a bunch of photos to go through and hope to post them to Flickr later today. In the meantime I uploaded a short clip of Bone and The Edge performing an acoustic version of Stuck in a Moment on Flickr which you can see here.

I recorded full length versions a couple of songs like Vertigo and Beautiful day but I'm not sure if I'll get away with posting those to Flickr. Any way I'll try posting some of my photos later.

Here's a few I took. I left my 28mm f/2.8 on the entire time so I had to make do with no zoom.

Lastley a pano I made of the crowd waiting for U2 to come on - I won't post the full size but you can see it here.
