Is Camry 2009 LE Base Model 25,500$ a good price?
I plan to buy a car in next few weeks. Today I want to Northwest Toyota. We test drived few cars, and decided to go with Camry. Since I didn't plan to buy today, the Sales person saw we plan to walk away the deal and told me he willing to offer me a "crazy" deal for 25,500$ (Include Tax), which $28,378-$25,500=$2,878 OFF. What do you think? is it good deal, or I can still have more bargain?
-------------
Camry 2009 LE Base Model
Base Price: $23,400
FRT/PDF: $1,240
GAS TAX: $75
A/C TAX: $100
PROTECTOR PLUS: $299 (What is this? rust protector or something?, do I have to buy this?)
----------
Sub Total: $25,144$
TAX (1.13%): $28,378

Join the APA and you will know the answer to your question. I'll bet the APA no haggle deal will be better than your salesperon's "crazy deal".

It seems like a decent deal. I was thinking of the premium model with the moonroof, as well as the stability control system, and other options. The extra few $$ is not that bad in the long run.

I think protector plus are the little stickers they stick on your panels and windows to prevent your car from being stolen and chopped up. I got my sales person to include it for me for free since I explicitly told him that I didn't want it (they are already pre-applied so they can't take them off)...

True, but they are 2 very different cars. That Matrix drives like a smaller car, whereas the Camry drives much nicer. I own a Camry and have driven a Matrix. It is no match for the Camry in the way of ride quality, room, and quietness. Fuel and the cost of a car are only part of the equation and I suggest to others that that should not be the primary focus on car. A Camry is not much more price wise and the 4 cyl is very good on gas.

$25.5K is a decent deal for a Camry OTD.
People were paying 22 to 24K back in the early 90s for the LE at that time.
Just make sure it is brandnew, not demo or anything.
Good luck to your purchase.

i purchased an 09 a few months ago. i strongly recommend you pay the $65 and get an apa quote to eliminate the guesswork (i don't get how people are able to afford a $20k+ purchase yet balk at paying an insignificant cost for the invoice).
i purchased a quote and after some back and forth I told the sales rep straight up that I know what the invoice price is so he has to do better (vs the quotes he was giving me). 10 min later he came back and gave me the deal i wanted.
if you buy the extended warranty and rust proofing remember these are separate items and you're now open for another round of haggling (free oil changes, weather mats, etc).
don't sign anything and don't give in. play hardball and walk away if you feel pressured. you're in a much better position now then I was as the incentives are better (and on a less direct note, sales figures are slightly down last quarter).
protector plus is vin etching (in this case stickers they put on the windows and various parts of the body with a unique #). don't pay extra for this garbage - get the dealer to toss it in for free. what these jokers do is apply that on all their inventory to create the illusion that you must purchase this package to buy the car. it's deceptive and it's a horrible scam they're perpetuating.
"People were paying 22 to 24K back in the early 90s for the LE at that time."
regardless of brand, that's not a fair comparison in the least. the model has changed, options have changed, the market has changed, there's inflation, the competition has changed, and so one.

Didn't think you could get that car for anywhere near that price. Looks smokin' hot to me.

At that price, I'd seriously consider going for a Camry over a higher-end Corolla or Civic. Not bad at all!
Oh, wait... Northwest Toyota. I wonder if Don Valley North would give me that deal (or better?).

I know someone here in Ottawa who negotiated and paid $26,600
So $25k sounds very good.
