Can a bank give a letter saying how much available credit I have?

This is for my government loan for school. Not sure if its done for OSAP, but I am a Manitoba student and they assessed my need for school at $18k, but can only provide 12k.

The student loan office is asking for proof that I have access to funds to cover the remaining costs before they will give me the funding they are able to. Whether its scholarships, borrowing from family etc. I do have funds as I have around 15k available on my SLOC. Would a bank be able to provide me with something to prove this? Specifically if its not my home branch? (I'm already in a different city for school).

I just got the letter today and will likely have to wait until monday to find out from the bank, I just was not sure if this was a normal thing to ask from them.

It can be done as long as the manager of customer service / branch manager are willing to do it. It would have to be a custom letter that is done by one of them on the bank letter head.
