Can bank tell the difference between automatic PAD and one-time PAD

Long story short, I set up an eBay PAD to pay the seller fees automatically every month. For the first month, the automatic PAD went through. The transaction posted as "Direct Debit" on my chequing account. For the second month, I noticed that I can make a one-time eBay PAD payment (using the chequing account I set up for automatic PAD), without waiting for eBay's automatically PAD to go through on a particular date, so I tried it, and noticed this transaction was posted as "Direct Debit" on my chequing account as well. My question is, can bank tell the difference between automatic PAD and one-time PAD (other than the post date)? I need this PAD to be automatic re-occurring every month, and hope I didn't screw things up.

No. There is no way for the bank to determine between reoccurring and one time.
