i went to v's driving school for my insurance classes.. it wasn't bad i guess.. but classroom is in the basement and room is pretty small, so if you don't like small areas and being cramped up..

driving instructor took me out on the highway like.. my second / third driving class though lol

Young Drivers. Sure its a little more expensive, but I still use many of their tips and techniques to this day. The collision avoidance techniques, for example, practiced in a controlled environment were fun and educational. One day when I have kids, they will all go to Young Drivers.
A friend of mine took driving lessons from one of the more popular Asian schools (can't remember the name). The instructor said when making a lane change, there is no need to check the rear view mirror - just the side mirror and blind spot.
Also another friend went to another Asian driving school and the instructor carried a loaded rifle in the trunk of his car...and even showed it to the student! no joke!
Young Drivers for sure.

Wow I didn't realize it was THAT much difference. However in hindsight, yes I would still pay the extra $$ for YD, including for the kids in the future. The founder started YD after his kid was killed by a drunk driver (something along those lines).

I went to AMB Driving School, pretty good place, nice instructors, decent prices as well. Young Driver's is a rip IMO, since almost all driving schools offer the same thing.

I went to new concept, I passed G2 test first try(so did 6 people I know, so by the time I took the class it was heavily discounted, 260 for the whole thing iirc). their instructors for the insurance class also know how to crack jokes. which is a bonus.

We had a really bad experience with Young Drivers in Whitby when we had registered our daughter to take lessons. The woman instructor kept cancelling her in-car instructions just before they were scheduled to occur. She dragged it out for nearly a year and then the final ride/test never did happen - my daughter had gotten her licence before the scheduled ride thanks to the instructor once again cancelling. If you do go with Young Drivers, just make sure that you feel you are getting the service. They are the most costly program and in my opinion - not worth the difference. My son took his lessons through the local high school program which was run by Oshawa Driving School. They were much better and I would use them again.
