Depends on alot of factors but if I were to pick one I'd probably choose the optima or the civic based on parts being cheaper and easier to find. (parts not exclusive to the hybrid model)

To drive on the HOV lane you will need to have a green license plate.
I think only electric cars qualify at this time.
Below is the requirements:

mmm. depends on how much driving you do.
If you do a lot of city driving then an electric vehicle make sense since gas prices flux while electricity is capped.
Financing for electric vehicles right now has an apr higher than 6% where as hybrids can have a low 3%.
Electric motors : city, Gas motors: highway.
That's how the hybrids work.
Expect to pay msrp for electric vehicles._______________

you should educate yourself about the hybrid systems. I believe toyota has the best one
other makes may not give you as good mileage
in toyota, the gas engine shuts down when you stop or drive at low speeds whereas other systems have the gas engine always running

you should educate yourself about the hybrid systems. All of them shut the engine down while stopped. Series hybrids (like the Civic) require the engine to be on when the car is moving. Parallel hybrids (like the Prius) can be in motion with the engine off.
The Prius is a good suggestion. The latest generation is unmatched in fuel economy compared to other hybrids.
However my first choice from the OP's list would be the TDI -- and I currently drive a hybrid._______________

Golf/Jetta TDIs aren't really any more to maintain than gasoline models. You need slightly more expensive synthetic oil that's rated for diesel, which you put in every 15k km, and you have to change the fuel filter every 60k km or so. No spark plugs or wires to change.
You have to change the oil on a Prius twice as often as on a TDI.Last edited by Anonymouse; May 31st, 2012 at 10:28 AM.
