Can you slow down or stop your utility meter by using a really strong magent?

Is it possible to slow down or stop the meter and possibly save some money by using a really strong magent? Just curious...and if anyone has done it before ;)

Yeah go try it.. it'll either slow down, speed up or stay the same.

Can't hurt!

Plus what if they come to read your meter while the magnet is on it.. you'll be in large doo-doo.

this reminds me of a friend tried to rollback cars mileage. He succeeded cutting down 100k mileages but it also went backward  afterward.

My uncle did this in my home country back in Asia. He got caught and had to pay a huge fine.

Although the electricity meters look similar, I would like to think that Canada, being a 1st world country, would have measures to prevent people from actually doing this.

But by all means, give it a shot and save on your electricity bill!!! :D

This is theft, plain and simple.

It's no different than shoplifting or stealing cars.

Magnets do not work anymore.. no. they are made with non-magnetic materials. Back in the day my grandpa used to do it though.. (40+ years ago)

Reminds me of Homer Simpson saying, "I'll bash you good!!!"

Don't remember which episode though.
