I had a lot of issues with my ZMax 2. Not a big ZTE fan.

That's true, but like cf7777 mentioned, ZTE shutdown their update servers so you can't update the firmware anymore. It's likely to be stuck on Android 5 if you buy this phone.

I bought Axon 7 mini, real advantage that it is smaller, thinner and lighter, fits any pocket.
The extra sd/sim slot could be handy in future.
Yet missing speed, screen size, better speaker sound and FM feature of normal (pre 7) Axon

I am sure that there are people who have reasonably good cans and enjoy quality sound, though probably not so many hard core audiophiles.
And most of such would probably do not use cell (unless with fancy external audio equipment) to listen to music.

I have an AXON7 and two of these 1st gen AXON's. The AXON7 has been awesome, and the two 1st gen AXON's are still running fine, coming up on 20 months of use. I was buying what was on sale at the time and a previous phone had been a Moto which had not impressed me.

let's get this straight. You gotta know when you're buying a ZTE phone (or product), you are not getting any support nor future firmware upgrade. A used in good shape LG V20 is a lot more appealing than this ZTE model.

I sold the Axon 7 because the updates were crap. Even the custom rom scene is very limited.

Once again, ZTE and US reached to deal, once ZTE pay 1 billion fine and replace management, update servers should be back again.

Sure, but ZTE essentially abandons all their phones 6 to 9 months after release.

Now $119.99 until Thursday, August 2nd.
Should I get it? I need something to replaced my aged (2012) Nexus 4 (for use on FreedomMobile) and it would be an upgrade for me...

If it's Android Lollipop, it's getting pretty outdated.
