I'm looking for one of these drives. How would this one compare to the Patriot Torch Seedrive that is currently $81.59 on Amazon Canada? See the link below.

Patriot Torch SE 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive - PTS256GS25SSDR https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01LOPX812/ref ... JzbW5VEY4M
3D V-NAND vs TLC. Longevity and speeds are better with the samsung.
Also, Patriot Torch had high fail rates if you google.

poopee.... I just bought this on July 26th at bestbuy with a price match from Canada Computers when it was on sale and got this for $129.49 with taxes, after price match and discount. Could I go back and get the difference and get a price match price match? lol

At worst you can buy a new one at the new price and return it with your old receipt.

TLC if anyone cares.
nope, 40nm 3D TLC, which is equivalent to MLC in terms of performance and longevity.

They now scan serial numbers, so it won't work.

Patriot Torch SE = junk planar TLC with low endurance, an incredibly low-end junk 2-channel Phison S11 chipset with execrable performance, and very limited/non-existent firmware support. personally I would not buy anything with a low-end S11, as it's meant for POS terminals and product display kiosks, not to run an actual PC or laptop like the far more powerful S8, S9 or S10.

Samsung 850 EVO = 40nm 3D TLC, with excellent performance and longevity, high-end chipset and regular firmware updates,.

Are you confusing it with the PRO? There have been zero firmware updates for the 850 EVO.

Just wanted to add in case anyone is still hesitant about V-NAND/3D TLC, these have 5 year warranties.

Still, you should ALWAYS have backups of your important stuff!
