CPC is a pain to deal with. They will first ask for the receipt, then ask for the item. After that they will likely try to blame it on you for improperly packing your item. If you defend your case enough, they will give up at day 6 or 7 and will tell you the cheque is on its way.

Canadapost damaged parcel -- will they cover it?
Sent something to my parents for Christmas via Canadapost, a digital picture frame. It was destroyed, it was pierced through the packaging and broken all of the glass, etc. It was $200 retail so I got $200 insurance (I guess I'm out the tax, d'oh). They (parents) received it on Friday, tried to deal with local post office rep but was told sender has to take care of it. I called their 1-800 number, they filed the compliant with the details and said an adjuster would call me within 5 business days. Should be an open and shut case but I have never experienced this before. Only real thing the person asked me about so far was about how it was packaged. So what has you experience been? Think I will get the value back? What should I expect to do for Canadapost, other than fax a receipt verifying the cost of the item?

An update
The adjuster called me on the next business day (Monday) and said I needed to fax or email (yay!) the receipts. I did that on Tuesday afternoon (my fault for being so slow) and by Wednesday morning I had an email from her stating I will get a cheque in the mail for the amount of the digital picture frame (as per the receipt) as well as the shipping costs within 10 business days. Not bad...
