[Canadian Tire] Champion 2000watt Inverter Generator $499.99

I've been tracking these generators for years and this is the lowest price I can ever remember seeing anywhere. It represents pretty outstanding value for an inverter generator.

in the costco west thread they are clearing out the 3100w for $650, far better value IMO.

Yes, I own the 3100w. It doesn't represent better value if you're seeking portability over capacity. The 3100w is nowhere near as portable as this one, not even close.

I'm half-way considering returning the 3100w to buy this.

You will not find a similarly sized generator, with any kind of recognizable brand name or reputation, for anywhere near this price (that I'm aware of). A generator this size is ideal for some applications.

Sorry, it was defaulting to a Quebec store for me, where it is currently on sale (I guess?). My price alert email shows the sale start 22 September.

I think these units also had the option to connect a second unit to double the capacity ( it stacks on top too) using a cable kit

Yes, parallel cable kits are available for these gennys. Same with the 3100w.

Bought one from the Rylander (Scarborough). Location. Rings up as 499 Grinning Face

In case anyone is worried they might get a returned one; they told me they will not take them back once gas has been in them. Made me feel better, especially considering rylander is a notoriously extra crappy tire

Question: When these run at 25% load can they run lower even 5-10% or do they pretty much need to run at Min 25%+ load first?

I calculated it costing a little under 400 Cad a Month at 500 Watts or 25% load hehe. Nerdy I know.

Oh wow, true sine wave too..

Damn you RFD!

I ordered on for store pickup at 799... I'll get it tomorrow and ask for a price change :) It only had 1 in stock... so wont take the risk of it being gone at that price.
Total $ spent because of RFD... $15,277.42
Total $ saved because of RFD... $7471.93

I think mine is missing the 12v clamps and the oil. What was in the box? I had the unit, manual, oil funnel, metal pipey thing

I recently bought the 3100w, so it may not apply, however it specifically did not come with oil, but it did have the 12v clamps.

I called Champion, Canadian units do not come with oil. They are sending me the clamps free of charge though Grinning Face

is that buyers remorse returns only? what if you got a defective unit?

Just got this instead. Same price, 100Watts extra :)

Firman W2100i...

A bit worried the Champion only has a 14A breaker. The Firman has a 20A breaker. Won't max it out, but at least it won't pop using a circular saw.

Con: Firman is not a cube? I guess if you really want to stack, then the Champion might still be your best bet. Both can be run in parallel with an identical unit.

That model doesn't say anything about the wave it produces.. I hope its not a modified sine wave, but rather pure sine wave, for electronics.

If its for power tools, then no issues.

Well,

looking at the basspro website, the Firman unit features this: "The low Total Harmonic Distortion level makes it ideal for sensitive medical equipment."

I guess it's ok for electronics then.

Well this is strange, this model "w2100i", isnt on the Firman website (shopfirman.com)... it is really, really new, or old stock??

The "SPS 2000i", however has this in its description: "Sine Wave Technology provides safe, reliable power for sensitive electronics, like computers, with less than 3% THD."

Any review on the noise? Looking to bring it to track and most people recommend a Yammy.

It has "automatic voltage regulator" which produces clean electricity. I own a much larger dual fuel and THD is approx +-3%...it has the same auto voltage reg.
