[Canadian Tire] Canadian Tire Gas Advantage Mastercard

[rfdlink=1]Canadian Tire[/rfdlink] is relaunching this card. Of course the benefits are lower than
last time. I will leave it to the card experts on RFD to tell me if it is a good deal.

Gas Advantage MasterCard cardholders are rewarded for using their card
everywhere they shop, anywhere in the world by instantly rolling back the
price of gas when they swipe their card. The more customers use their card,
the higher the discount on gas.

I think the Citi Driver's edge (2% flat on all purchases, not just gas) is still better unless you drive a Hummer or spend above the maximum for citi's card.
Best deals I got thanks to RFD:
Sony 60" SXRD RPTV with Stand 1749$ :arrowl:

Are the savings only on gas at a Canadian Tire gas bar?

for monthly spending of $2000, if 1% rebate, that's $20

for saving of 10 cents per litre, you need to use 200 litres of gas to get 1% rebate, which means 1,500 to 2,000 kilometres per month depending on your car.

So, totally depends on how many kms you drive each month.

Terrible deal IMO, you can get 10c off using GCR and gas multipliers.

i prefer octavius' method:

buy CT gift cards from the site in my sig using the credit card of your choice.
= rewards from you card plus cash back from the site in my sig
buy gas at CT using the above gift cards with their weekly multiplier coupon (Eastern Canada only?)
= bonus CT money
once you accumulate a fair amount of CT money, use it to pay for CT gas

i see it as 3x the rewards for your gas purchase and you're not limited to using a feature-less credit card (i.e. the CT gas advantage mc).

Thanks.

I have been using this card for a while now. What I do is to share the card with my brother. You are allowed the discount upto $700. For arguement shake, let's say gas is at 1.35/litre. ie, you can have roughly about 520 litres, the saving is about $52/month on a thousand that you spent which is about 5%. Not bad at all. Now, in July, they reduced the saving down to 8 cents/litre (from 1000 to 1999 balance), the saving is still about 4% which is still not bad.

I have been using this card for many months. It`s great and simple .I have already complained about the extra tier added from $1000-1999 .

With my Civic I`m saving about $30 - 35 a month .

It's a competitor to RFD, so you'll need to search for it or PM someone here.

Note you'll need to convert the CT money to gift cards first as they don't allow CT money for use at gas bar (unless this has recently changed). To convert CT money to gift cards, go to a cashier in store and ask to consolidate your stack of CT money onto a gift card (tell him/her you don't want to keep a stack of money in your purse/wallet). Personally I just use the CT money in store as we need to shop there anyway.

Let's say on average I drive 780kms/month...TOPS.

Would it benefit me to get on this SCAM-worthy CT DISadvantage MC and transfer over at least $2K of spending to earn 10centsOFF...OR keep my routine, and buy CT GCs with my 2%AMEX, use GC coupled with multiplier coupons?

I've never understood how this works...either that or it is too damn simple it threw me for a loop :( . I think I was so bummed after Lifestyle REwards died, that the 3% or 5% whatever GCR offers just bummed me further and I never bothered with it. Does this still work?
