Canadian Tire gasoline
I've been hesitant to fill up with them in the past since I'm not sure where they get their supply from. I just got a few CT gift cards that I can use for gas since I don't shop at their stores. Has anyone filled up at CT recently that could comment on the fuel quality?

I've never officially measured, but I noticed it seems like I get less mileage out of a tank of Crap Tire gasoline.
By the way, my understanding is that Crap Tire Gas bars are not part of the Crap Tire store.. they're independently owned and operated.

Differences like this are usually in your head - there are only a handful of refineries that produce the gas. You may get a bad tank here or there (From any station), but it's highly unlikely to always get consistently bad gas these days from a gas station (In the past yes).

Yeah I've wondered if it was in my head.. but I really did compare the apparent mileage, and it seemed like I would go less far on a tank of CT Gas.
I do subscribe to the placebo effect.. but for some reason this seemed to go against what I had previously thought, that all gas was pretty much equal.
I don't know how to explain it, but I throw it out there for other CT Gas buyers to measure.. perhaps I'm completely wrong and it's entirely in my head. But it wasn't an isolated event.

you only get Esso, Shell gas at the smaller chains/independents i think.
so it really doesnt make much difference.

Buy a diesel car and you'll never ever worry about mileage again,
unless you start getting the kind of mileage u get with a gasoline car.
Then you'll hang yourself.

it's funny that you should bring up CT's gasoline. a few years back i saved a few cents at the CT station just before the yorkdale. nothing wrong during the first 2-3 fill ups but soon my car felt sluggish and the exhaust smoked. strong *gasoline* smell filled the cabin while idling at the traffic lights so i tossed my coupons and went to sunoco for a tank of their premium grade to clean out my injectors.
voila, no more problems. nowadays i use esso, sunoco, petrocan...the usual suspects. i realize they all receive gasoline from the same refinery but their renovated stations have new reservoirs and efficient pumps.
CT? i like their coupons but their gasoline has always posed problems for my car.

Yeah I always *WANT* to buy gas at Crap Tire, because I get money back that I can use.. but it also seems to affect my car. I swear it's not in my head.
I do realize there are only so many refineries and that the quality of gas is under pretty tight quality control.. so I can't explain it, but I have given up purchasing gas at Crap Tire Gas Bars, against my better wishes.

in the past...i tried CT gas cuz they had bonus CT dollars and it was about 2-3 cents cheaper than all the other places in my area. For two fill ups, I consistently got around 100-150km less per tank with CT gas. assuming driving habits and outside temperatures were pretty constant...I would say CT gas sucks. mileage went back up after filling most of the tank with sunoco.

Honestly, if you feel your car performs better on Petro Canada gas - I say go for it. Whether it actually does or not doesn't matter, because you'll feel better about it.
It's just like people who buy home theatre speakers - buy what sounds good to you, not what the magazine says, because you listen to them.

It's not that other gas performs better, it's just that i noticed I didn't seem to get as good mileage on CT Gasoline.. and I tried it for quite a while as I loved getting the CT$$$.
I swear it's not just in my head though.. I pretty realistic and I'm trained in engines, so I understand gas is gas... I can't put my finger on it, and I didn't test it with enough detail, but the CT Gas I was getting just didn't perform up to the standard I was used to.
I don't believe in one gas being better than another, unless theres obvious intentional dilution of the gasoline.. and I understand there are a lot of filters and testing in place to verify the quality.. so I don't know. But it did seem to not hold up in mileage as well as gasoline from other locations.
So I'm not trying to dissaude people from purchasing CT Gas, but I would be interested to hear if a few people did their own mileage tests to see if there was any kind of validity to my belief.

I was the other way around. Sunoco gave me worse mileage than CT.
