Hey guys, I bought a shaver on Dec6 (philips arcitec 1050) and i cant get a very close shave.
I tried to return it when I was in canadian tire today, but was unable to since I didn't have the credit card I used to buy it with me.
I was under the impression that electronics had to be returned within 30 days but was told that since there is a 2 year warranty, I could return the shaver any time within 2yrs of initial purchase for a full refund.
Does anyone know if thats true, or do I need to return it this week?
It's not a big deal either way, but was surprised when the girl told me that.

If the shaver does not meet your satisfaction, then you can return it based on the returns policy. If there is something wrong with the shaver, then you can elect to use the warranty policy, which would in this case be 2 years.
You wouldn't necessarily be getting a refund for this warranty policy. Nor would Canadian Tire be obliged to take it in for you to honour the warranty, unless CT has a policy to do so. (Normally they do on Mastercraft tools and such, but other national branded products, probably not.)
If it is CT's policy to honour the warranty, they would take it in for you on your behalf and send it back to the manufacturer to have it examined and repaired or replaced by the manufacturer, not CT. CT is not obliged to have a replacement for you while you are waiting for the warranty claim.
If you do not have your receipt or CC, then you are likely SOL>
But since you already used your shaver, then you are most likely SOL. They ask that the item be back in its original packaging and not be used. (I returned a used watering hose and they would not let me return it).Last edited by SeeYouNextTime; Jan 4th, 2009 at 06:26 AM.

If it was me (I am cheap) and its not, I would march it right back return it,money back/account credited whatever....get the deal done now!!!
I never trust what these sales people tell me verbally having had a few "issues" about returns.
If you can just make the time, its your money and get it back even today.
They are open Sundays.
You are still within the xmas time frames as a return "backup" chip
The old adage the longer you wait the harder it is.

Check the shaver box fine print, some manufacturer provide "Satisfaction Guarantee" as in they'll refund your payment (from your receipt) if the shaver isn't 100% fit for you. I think
but that has nothing to do with the retailers who sold them.

The Canadian Tire return policy is 90 days with exceptions. Check the back of your receipt.

no credit card always get the gift card
They usually offer to put the amount on a gift card if you don't have the credit card.
Always return items to stores on Sunday mornings.
Youngest, most junior staff work on Sunday mornings.
They have slept 1 hour and are trying to recover from a hangover. They will
return anything.

on the receipt it indicates that return policy is 90 days. However, when I took in my returns (for toys) there is a sign that indicates no return of toys or Christmas items after Dec 24th. There was absolutely no indication of this on the receipt.
Is it possible to pursue? Toys are still brand new in box!

Sometimes they let you return an item without a receipt, but it is for an exchange of another product in the store, and is only valid while you are there. It is not valid for the next day. I had to rush to buy something of equal value while i was there one time.
somehow i think that is a policy made up by the staff and not corporate policy._______________

I think its store policy.
Anybody can "Steal" and return the item for cash without receipt. At Agincourt Walmart, last month I saw customer service asking for ID like Passport for exchange items without receipt. Passport?WTF?
And Yes Wally offered the lady Gift card and not cash for returns w/o rcpt._______________
