Why should I go with Canadian Tires road side assistant instead of CAA?

Which do most of you prefer?

TIA

I believe as long as you are their MasterCard cardholder.

Thank you! My CT has great service department and when my car died last year, it was amazing to have it towed about 150km to my preferred local store while I was coming home from vacation. Their customer service on the phone was really helpful and they did a couple of really helpful considerate throngs for me when I was in such a predicament . Will not go without this card!

CAA might have different perks and tiers, because my dad was going to put the included tow on his BCAA when a family vehicle broke down over 100+KM away, but it turns out his account had only applied for something small like 5-10km tow whereas the CT Roadside Assistance offered up to 250KM towing (Silver plan: 15Km; Gold plan: 250Km). I've used the tow service twice and key assistance once in span of 5 years, so we probably broke even value-wise. Definitely nice having in the back-pocket when needed.

One positive I noticed with the BCAA was my dad was able to use his membership on a vehicle he didn't own/insure. Not if sure CT:RA offers that. RFD user, Fightguard, (a few posts down) claims CT has changed that perk to their membership.

5 calls up to 250 km and top to location of your choice..... does not have to be Canadian Tire.

And, should you chose to have vehicle towed to Cdn Tire, it does not count towards your tow limits of 5 .

The RA card they send out expires in 10yrs and will be auto renewed afterwards.

Can this be added? I got this earlier this year in April 2018. I'd like to buy it again and add, or can I buy it and wait to "use" until April 2019?

CT now offers member based membership (not just vehicle based). So members can make calls for any vehicle they are in (or around), which used to be a deal-breaker for some.
Wife and I have been gold members essentially since these 50% deals popped up years ago.
Both of us used a handful of times for boost, tows, and a few lockout (which was all me). Other than 1 time, Never has to wait more than 45 mins, 1 call came within 10, most were 20-30 mins. All our calls were within Toronto though, near major roads. Only time I had to wait over 1 hour was around 4-4:30pm on Tuesday afternoon. The driver said many trucks in the area I was at during that time were busy pulling vehicles off that were parked in lanes that need to be open during rush hour.

I have CAA Premier RV. As far as I can tell, Canadian Tire does not offer an equivalent plan. If I get a flat tire on my trailer driving down the 401 in the middle of winter, I'd rather have CAA come help me out with that, than change it myself.
