Fabric 5G and 7G size pots. Better for the roots to breath and keep your plants healthy with their breathability. Most of mine are in the 7G size and wish I kept all of them in that size. Just more room for them to grow into

How big are they getting in a pot of that size?

I've got a little DIY box i made right now which is about 18"x18"x40"

Very small i know but wanted to try my luck at growing 1 in there. already planning on purchasing an actual tent but for something that size i heard max i should go is 3gallons.

Actually from what I've read online this was a good rule of thumb I heard:

If you're final (desired) plant size is...

12" ~2-3 Gallon Container
24" ~3-5 Gallon Container
36" ~6-8 Gallon Container
48" ~8-10 Gallon Container
60" ~12+ Gallon Container

With that said I'm guessing your plants are growing to about 2-3 ft?

My plants range from about that 2-3 feet height indeed. Also genetics will play a factor into the space you need and whatever training you did to the plant to make it grow wider/bushier instead of taller Xmas tree like. You see that with my Cookie Monster plant because they listed it as an Auto and so I only topped it once. Had I done another topping to her, it would look closer height wise to the other plants and look much bushier

Many people have used old PC's as grow boxes. They are easy to smell proof and easy to seal from light leaks. And they hide in plain sight, now you have a use for that massive antec server case sitting in the basement. https://howtogrowmarijuana.com/pc-grow-box/

Awesome thread.

How do you guys deal with the smell? 20 yrs ago I used to have a few plants and the whole house reeked of weed. Currently, the wife hates the smell, she's not a toker, so just smells 'skunk'.

It's Canada. Kinda hard to grow outside for 8 months of the year.

You also get way more yield and higher quality and consistent product when you grow indoors.

You can get these high powered fans that suck up the air inside your grow tent (or room), passes the air through a chamber lined with activated carbon, the. Shoots it outside. Or even back jnto the room. A small tent with carbon filter aint that smeller at all.

Has anyone used or can give feedback on Mars Hydro products, specifically their tents? I'm currently looking at their 3x3 and from everything I've read they make great ones. They use the premium 1680D fabric which makes it alot stronger then the typical 600D ones.

Any one who could comment, please do!

So I’m just going to say this on lighting. If you think this is something you will want to continue doing and want to get the best out of plants and don’t mind shelling out the money. Look in buying a HLG QUANTUM BOARD. I just got my new light yesterday and the thing is a beast and my plants are loving it. Now the painful part, I spent close to $1100 when all was said an done. These were made in Austin, Texas and paid them to build the lighting system, install a dimmer knob, shipping and duty fee. I could of bought from Alibaba in pieces for I think close to half the price but would rather have an expert do the building for me. They are super bright and easily light up my entire tent. So I will include a few pics. First pic is of my tent with my (now old) 2 Viparspectra 600W light, HLG 600H Quantum Board, Tent with new lighting and last one a closeup of my Black Domina Buds.

I'm thinking of starting out with a Quantum Board.... Never grown before. Should I start small with an HLG 100 and a 2x2 tent? Or splurge for a 2x4 tent with a HLG 260W?

I’d say splurge and go for the HLG 260W. The bigger tent will also benefit for the plants if you try some Low Stress Training or other methods to improve the yield of your plant.

And thanks S14_RavenSmiling Face With Open Mouth And Smiling Eyes

Awesome! Looks like we're going to learn a lot from you :P

Just ordered my tent! I ended up going with the Mars Hydro 3x3 (39"x39"x70" - to be exact). It seemed to be probably the best option out there for size and price and i really did want to go with one of the higher quality 1680D material tents. Very excited to get it setup ones it arrive. Was just over $170CDN all-in on amazon.ca!

Hey everyone!

With cannabis now legal in canada I've been looking into growing it myself at home. I'm in Ontario which allows you to grow 4 plants at once.

I've been doing a ton of research online but wanted to check here if anyone had some suggestions on reliable brands for equipment.

I'm looking specifically for tents, lighting, fans, carbons filters and anything else you'd recommend.

I'm just starting off so keeping the equipment to the essentials would be ideal.

Also recommendations on nutrients would be helpful.

Thanks!
After nearly a month of research, I've pulled the trigger on the following:

  • 4x QB132 Quantum Boards
  • Mars Hydro 3x3 1680D Grow Tent
  • Fusion Breath 6" in-line fan
  • Fusion Breath 400mm carbon air filter
  • Canna Coco A+B
  • Canna Coco Coir 50L
  • Botanicare Cal-Mag Plus
  • Vivosun 5 gallon fabric bags
  • 39 various seeds from Seedsman
  • Whole bunch of other stuff for pH, thermometer, gardening tools, etc.
