Yes, I didn't copy the whole e-mail, but I did paste the "$100 bonus for finding a throttle" in post 912 above in this thread (page 61).

Maybe they didn't do it intentionally, but they do it by mistake and it does throttle you as you said. It's a fact.
so i decided to sign up to Cannet today, based off the news that they will give $100 bonus for finding a throttle. i didn't ask when signing up, but got them to give me the $5 modem rental without any contract instead of 2 yr contract, so we'll see how it goes... i'll give it a try, and if it's not good then all i lost was $23 signup fee

Hi guys.
So was the speed issue during peak hours resolved?
Is there any way to avoid the rent fee for the modem? Buy it or rent to own?

It's been 2 days no throttle so far. Modem can only be rented. With carrytel you can bring your own

I wonder how they can do that, selectively throttle, but in any case glad it's working out now for you...

Torrents are still heavily throttled for me. Can't beat 30-40kbps. Steam is much improved.

Anyone have better luck with torrents?

So I emailed and complained about the throttling today and they replied back saying that the engineers have fixed the issue. I just tried it now on Fast.com and I'm getting between 40-50mbps. I'm happy with that as it doesn't really affect my streaming as much. I guess I'll stick it out for a little while and hopefully it's not temporary,

Can you folks share who did you email to complain, just their customer service or someone higher up. I just signed up and fast.com shows ~3mbps most of the time. Thank you.

This is the speed I get too during peak hours, though I was never throttled from the beginning. Which area of Toronto are you from?

Just wondering: you guys subscribed to an advertised 100mbps service and are happy with 50mbps?

I'm with Fido unlimited 60 mbps. Getting consistent 80-90mbps each time I test. Free modem and install and first 3 months were free. Yeah, it's $20 bucks more per month after that, but I'm really glad I took Fido over this pos, when I was making my choice.

So now I tried again this morning and I am getting the same speed results during non peak hours as I did last night during peak (40-50mbps). I used to get 95-100mbps before the complaint. Did they just drop my overall speed to 50mbps or something and keep it consistent? Wtf are these guys up to? I'm in the Highway 50 and Rutherford area.

Just switched from Fido to Cannet last night........so far so good. Fast.com says 3Mb but Speedtest.net says 99Mb. Watched the Leafs game without too much buffering at all (I think it buffered once in the 3rd period), pretty impressed.
